How much GOSI is deducted from my salary?
Leave empty if your employer provides housing instead of paying an allowance.
The new system applies if your first-ever registration was on or after 3 July 2024.
How your GOSI contribution is calculated
GOSI takes a percentage of your contribution base: basic salary plus housing allowance, counted between SAR 1,500 and SAR 45,000 a month. For Saudis the percentage is the annuity (pension) rate plus 0.75% SANED, and the employer adds a further 2% for occupational hazards. On the new system the annuity rate steps up by 0.5 points every 3 July, from 9% in 2024 to 11% in 2028, so the calculator uses today's date to pick the right rate. Expats pay nothing; the employer pays 2%.
- Contribution base
- Basic + housing, never below SAR 1,500 or above SAR 45,000 a month.
- Annuity branch
- The pension part of GOSI. It is shared equally between you and your employer.
- SANED
- Unemployment insurance: 0.75% from you and 0.75% from your employer (Saudis only).
- Occupational hazards
- 2% paid by the employer only, for every employee, Saudi or not.
- Old vs new system
- Old = first registered before 3 July 2024. New = first registered on or after that date.

| Non-Saudi | SAR 12,000 + 3,000 | 0% · SAR 0 | 2% · SAR 300 | SAR 15,000 |
Net = basic + housing minus the employee deduction. Other allowances are paid on top and are not part of the GOSI base.
What this GOSI estimate leaves out
- Estimate only — your contract and the employer's final calculation can differ. Rules reviewed Sep 2026.
- Pick the system by your first-ever GOSI registration, not your current job's start date. Moving employers doesn't move you to the new system.
- GCC nationals working in Saudi Arabia follow separate GCC insurance-extension rules, which this tool doesn't model.
- Commissions, overtime and other allowances aren't added to the base here. Your GOSI record (via the GOSI app) shows the wage your employer actually registered.

Frequently asked questions
How much GOSI is deducted from a Saudi employee's salary?
It depends on when you first registered. Under the old system (first registered before 3 July 2024) the employee pays 9.75% of basic salary plus housing allowance: 9% for the annuity (pension) branch and 0.75% for SANED unemployment insurance. Under the new system the employee pays 10.75% as of 23 Sept 2026, and that rises each July until 2028.
Do expats pay GOSI in Saudi Arabia?
No. Non-Saudi employees have nothing deducted from their salary for GOSI. The employer pays 2% of the contribution base for occupational hazards cover, which protects you if you are injured at work. Your long-term benefit as an expat is the end-of-service award under the Labour Law, not a GOSI pension.
What changed for Saudis who joined GOSI after 3 July 2024?
The new Social Insurance Law applies to Saudis whose first-ever GOSI registration is on or after 3 July 2024. Their annuity rate starts at 9% per side and rises by half a point every 3 July: 9% from 3 Jul 2024, 9.5% from 3 Jul 2025, 10% from 3 Jul 2026, 10.5% from 3 Jul 2027, 11% from 3 Jul 2028. Anyone already registered before that date stays on the old 9% annuity rate.
Is GOSI calculated on my total salary?
No. The contribution base is basic salary plus housing allowance only, with a floor of SAR 1,500 and a ceiling of SAR 45,000 a month. Transport and other allowances are not added in this calculation. If your basic plus housing is above SAR 45,000, the deduction stops growing.
What is SANED and do I pay it?
SANED is Saudi Arabia's unemployment insurance scheme. Saudi employees and their employers each pay 0.75% of the contribution base, and it is already included in the rates this calculator shows. Non-Saudis don't pay SANED.
Does GOSI replace my end-of-service gratuity?
No. The end-of-service award is paid by your employer under the Saudi Labour Law when your contract ends, separately from GOSI. Use our gratuity calculator to estimate it from your basic salary and years of service.
