Salary Transfer Letter Template

How do I write a salary transfer letter for an employee's bank loan or credit card?

The employer undertaking banks ask for before a salary-linked loan or credit card: salary paid into a named IBAN, not moved without clearance — in English, Arabic or both.

What the salary transfer letter says

Addressed to the bank branch, it confirms the employee's details and current salary, then lists the employer's undertakings: pay the salary through WPS into the named account and IBAN, don't change the account without the bank's clearance letter and, optionally, transfer end-of-service dues to the same account. It closes by stating the company is not a guarantor, and adds an employee consent line.

IBAN
International bank account number; UAE IBANs start with AE and have 23 characters.
Clearance / liability letter
The bank's letter confirming the loan is settled, needed to move the salary.

Before you sign it

  • Many banks have their own salary transfer form — use theirs if they insist on it.
  • Only sign undertakings your payroll can keep; breaking them can expose the company to claims.
  • Paste onto your letterhead, sign and stamp. This is a template, not legal advice.

Frequently asked questions

What is a salary transfer letter?

+

A letter in which the employer undertakes to pay an employee's salary into a named bank account — and usually not to move it elsewhere without the bank's clearance, and to send end-of-service dues there too. Banks in the UAE and the GCC ask for it before approving a personal loan or credit card that relies on salary transfer.

How is it different from a salary certificate?

+

A salary certificate only confirms employment and pay. A salary transfer letter adds a commitment about where the salary is paid. If the bank only wants proof of income, use the salary certificate generator instead.

Does the employer become a guarantor of the loan?

+

No — the letter says so explicitly. The company only commits to transferring the salary (and, if you tick it, end-of-service dues) that it owes the employee. Read the bank's own form carefully if it uses different wording.

What happens when the employee leaves?

+

With the end-of-service option on, the company pays the final dues into the same account and tells the bank in writing that employment is ending. To move the salary to another bank, the employee needs a clearance (liability) letter from the first bank.
