How the CV search string works
The string starts with (intitle:cv OR intitle:resume OR inurl:cv OR inurl:resume) so Google favours pages that are CVs. Your job titles form an OR group, must-have skills are added as required words, locations as another OR group, and (filetype:pdf OR filetype:doc OR filetype:docx) keeps it to documents. Finally -template -sample -example -jobs -"job description" removes CV templates and job ads. Tick Arabic to add "السيرة الذاتية" and the Arabic titles.
- intitle: / inurl:
- The word must be in the page title or web address.
- filetype:
- Only that type of document (pdf, doc, docx).

Before you rely on it
- It only finds CVs people chose to publish — a small slice of the market, often skewed to job seekers who are actively looking.
- Contact details on old CVs may no longer work. Look the person up on LinkedIn as well.
- Never forward a CV to a client or colleague without the candidate's agreement.

Frequently asked questions
What is a resume (CV) X-ray search?
A Google search that looks for CVs people have put online themselves — on personal websites, portfolios and document-sharing pages. The string asks for pages with CV or resume in the title or address, in PDF or Word format, that mention your job title, skills and location, and removes templates and job ads.
Why are there so many CV templates in the results?
Template and 'sample CV' pages use the same words as real CVs. The tool adds -template -sample -example -jobs and -"job description" to filter most of them out. If you still see too many, add a very specific skill or licence (e.g. NEBOSH, SCFHS, Primavera P6) as a must-have.
Can I search for Arabic CVs?
Yes — tick 'Arabic CVs too'. The tool adds "السيرة الذاتية" (CV) and the Arabic job titles, so it also finds CVs written in Arabic, which many Saudi and other GCC national candidates use.
Is it legal to use CVs I find online?
Reading a CV someone published is fine; how you use their data is regulated. Contact them only about a relevant role, through the details they published, and don't store or share the CV without a reason and their agreement. In the UAE this falls under Federal Decree-Law 45 of 2021 on personal data protection; in Saudi Arabia under the PDPL.
Why are some results old?
People rarely delete CVs they posted years ago. Check the dates and latest job on the CV, and confirm the person is still looking before you assume they're available.
