When is my last working day?
The day you hand in (or receive) notice counts as day 1.
UAE contracts must set 30 to 90 days. Blank uses 30.
How your last working day is worked out
The calculator picks the notice rule that fits your country, who is giving notice, whether you're on probation and (where it matters) your contract or years of service. It then counts calendar days from the day notice is served, which is day 1, to find your last working day. Qatar's rule is in months, so it adds calendar months instead.
- Notice served
- The date the resignation or termination letter is handed over. It counts as day 1.
- Last working day
- The final day of your notice. Your employment ends at the end of this day.
- Probation
- The trial period at the start of a job. Shorter notice usually applies.
- Indefinite contract
- A contract with no end date. Saudi Arabia's 30/60-day rule applies to these.

Before you rely on this date
- Estimate only — your contract and the employer's final calculation can differ. Rules reviewed Sep 2026.
- Your contract can set a longer notice period than the legal minimum. Always check the notice clause.
- Kuwait and Bahrain notice rules are still being verified, so those countries are not calculated yet.
- Saudi probation-period notice and employer notice in Qatar are not in our verified rules yet.
- If you and your employer agree an earlier (or later) last day, get it in writing — the legal notice is the default, not the only option.

Frequently asked questions
Is the notice period in calendar days or working days?
Calendar days. Weekends and public holidays inside your notice still count, and the day notice is served counts as day 1. So 30 days' notice served on 1 October ends on 30 October. Use the working days calculator if you need to know how many of those days you actually work.
What is the notice period during probation in the UAE?
If you resign during probation to leave the UAE, you give 14 days' notice. If you resign to join another UAE employer, you give 30 days, and the new employer may have to compensate your current employer for recruitment costs unless agreed otherwise. If the employer ends your contract during probation, it must give you 14 days.
Can a UAE notice period be longer than 90 days?
No. UAE law requires the notice period in your contract to be between 30 and 90 days. If your contract says something outside that range, the calculator flags it. If your contract doesn't state one, 30 days is the minimum.
What is the notice period in Saudi Arabia after the 2025 amendments?
For indefinite (unlimited) contracts, an employee who resigns gives 30 days' notice and an employer who ends the contract gives 60 days. Fixed-term contracts follow their own terms. Probation can last up to 90 days, extendable to 180 by written agreement.
How much notice do I give in Qatar when changing jobs?
One month if you have up to 2 years of service with your employer, and two months if you have more than 2 years. The calculator adds calendar months, so notice served on 1 October with 3 years' service ends on 30 November.
What is the notice period in Oman?
Under the 2023 Oman Labour Law, a monthly-paid worker gives 30 days' notice. During probation, which can last up to 3 months, notice is 7 days.
