How the salary range is checked
Each role and country in our salary data has four monthly bands: entry (0–2 years), mid (3–6), senior (7–12) and executive (12+). The checker compares your range with the band for the level you pick. If your top figure is below the band, the range is below market; if your bottom figure is above it, it's above market; anything in between is within the band, starts below it or tops out above it. It also places the midpoint of your range inside the band (lower, middle or upper part) and flags ranges where the top is more than 1.5× the bottom. Everything is shown per month in local currency, the way Gulf candidates compare offers.

What the band can't tell you
- Bands are market guides, not offers. Sector, company size, nationality mix and allowances move real pay.
- Our data covers 50 roles. For niche or very senior roles, treat the nearest role as a rough guide.
- Salaries for nationals can differ — in the UAE, for example, Emirati pay must meet the minimum for Emiratisation counting.

Frequently asked questions
Where does the salary data come from?
From MenaJobs' own salary guides for 50 common roles in the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain and Oman — the same data behind our /salary pages and the estimated salaries on job pages. Each guide gives monthly ranges in local currency for entry, mid, senior and executive levels. If we don't have a band for a role, level or country, the tool says so instead of guessing.
Should I put the salary range in my job ad?
Yes, if you can. Gulf candidates compare packages line by line, and ads with a number attract applicants who fit the budget instead of people who'll turn the offer down. A monthly range with the main allowances ('AED 12,000–15,000 a month + housing') is the clearest format.
How wide should a salary range be?
Roughly 15–30% from bottom to top, e.g. AED 12,000–15,000. A range where the top is more than 1.5× the bottom looks like you haven't decided the level, and candidates anchor on the top figure. The checker flags ranges that wide.
Are the ranges basic salary or total package?
Our salary guides give one monthly pay range per level; they don't split basic salary from allowances. Housing, transport and other allowances vary a lot between employers, so compare like with like — and say in your ad exactly what your figure includes.
What if my role isn't in the list?
Pick the closest role — for example Accountant for a payroll accountant, or Project Engineer for a project coordinator in construction — and adjust for the specialism. We cover 50 roles today and add more as our salary guides grow.
Is my salary range saved or shared?
No. The comparison runs in your browser and nothing you type is sent to us unless you click 'Post it free', which copies the range into the post-a-job form for you to review.
