GCC Sourcing Lists
Which GCC universities and employers should I add to my search?
How to use target lists in a search
Pick the universities or employers that match the background you need, copy their search strings and combine them with your role: ("Khalifa University" OR "جامعة خليفة") AND ("Mechanical Engineer" OR "HVAC Engineer"). Join several rows with OR inside one bracket to search a group of schools or companies at once. Each row links to the organisation's official website so you can check the name.
- Target company list
- Employers whose staff have the experience your role needs.
- Name variants
- Full, short, former and Arabic names people use for the same organisation.
Use it responsibly
- The list is a starting point, not a ranking. It leaves out many good universities and employers.
- Organisations rename and merge. If a search returns little, check the official site linked on the row for the current name.
- Respect non-solicitation clauses with clients and partners before contacting their staff.
Build the full search
Add a university or company string to the LinkedIn X-ray search builder or the Boolean search generator. For title variants, see job title synonyms.
Frequently asked questions
How do I search for graduates of a specific GCC university?
Copy the university's row into your search as an OR group, then add the role. People write the same university several ways — full name, short name, Arabic name — so the string includes the common variants. On LinkedIn you can also use the School filter; the string helps on Google X-ray searches and in CV databases, where there is no such filter.
Why are company names written several ways?
Profiles mention employers by brand, legal name, old name or Arabic name. A search for one spelling misses the others, so each row bundles the variants we know are in use. Add a missing variant yourself if you spot one on a profile.
Is it okay to source people from a named company?
Contacting people about a job is normal practice, but check your own contracts first: some clients and partners have non-solicitation clauses, and your own company may have agreements with the firms on this list. Approach people individually and respectfully, never with bulk messages to a whole team.
Does a listed university or employer mean the candidate is good?
No. A school or employer name is a search shortcut, not a quality signal. Use it to find people with relevant context (for example oil and gas experience or a GCC engineering degree), then screen on skills and experience like any other candidate.
