We are looking for a Government Relations (GRO) professional with strong hands-on experience in customs clearance and government procedures to manage and coordinate the clearance of imported shipments.
The role will primarily focus on customs clearance procedures, particularly for shipments imported from China, while also coordinating with relevant government authorities, port authorities, transport, and traffic departments to ensure smooth and timely movement of goods.
The candidate will handle a variety of cargo, including chemicals, aluminum, equipment, and other imported materials. Hands-on experience with the FASAH platform is mandatory.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and coordinate end-to-end customs clearance procedures for imported shipments.
- Handle customs clearance processes for shipments arriving primarily from China.
- Process and follow up on shipments through the FASAH platform.
- Prepare, review, and ensure the accuracy of customs and import documentation.
- Coordinate with customs and port authorities to facilitate timely shipment clearance.
- Maintain strong working relationships with relevant government authorities, particularly in Yanbu.
- Coordinate with the Transport General Authority (TGA) and Traffic Department regarding transportation permits, movement approvals, and escort requirements when applicable.
- Follow up on customs inspections, approvals, releases, and any issues that may delay shipment clearance.
- Coordinate with shipping companies, freight forwarders, transport providers, and internal project teams.
- Ensure compliance with Saudi customs regulations and applicable import procedures.
- Resolve customs and government-related issues efficiently and ensure timely follow-up.
- Maintain accurate records of government transactions, customs documentation, and shipment status.
- Provide regular updates to the Project Management Leader regarding clearance progress and any potential delays.
- 2–5 years of relevant experience in Government Relations, Customs Clearance, Logistics, Freight Forwarding, Shipping, or Import & Export.
- Strong practical knowledge of Saudi customs clearance procedures.
- Mandatory hands-on experience with the FASAH platform.
- Experience handling imported shipments, preferably from China.
- Experience dealing with different types of cargo, including chemicals, aluminum, equipment, or similar goods.
- Previous experience dealing with Saudi customs and port authorities.
- Strong communication, coordination, and negotiation skills.
- Excellent attention to detail, particularly in documentation and data handling.
- Ability to manage multiple shipments and follow up on time-sensitive clearance procedures.
- Previous experience in an industrial environment is preferred but not mandatory.
- Established working relationships with government authorities in Yanbu, particularly port, transport, and traffic authorities, are highly preferred.
