About the Role
Over 100,000 merchants run their businesses on Salla, and every order they win ends the same way: something physical has to reach a customer. Shipping is where the platform stops being software.
This role owns the shipping stack end to end and the economics underneath it: courier integrations, routing, cash-on-delivery reconciliation, exceptions, and partner performance, plus how far past last-mile delivery we go into inventory placement, warehousing, pick and pack, first-mile pickup, and returns. You lead a dedicated engineering squad as its one accountable product owner, and you own what a shipment costs and what the platform keeps on it. Few product roles let you own a merchant experience and its unit economics at the same time. This one does.
You will drive impact across four major domains:
- Shipping Products (routing, label issuance, cash on delivery, tracking, driver-facing tools)
- Partner Integrations (provider onboarding, interface quality, status mapping, reconciliation, platform stability)
- Fulfillment Beyond Last Mile (inventory placement, warehousing and third-party orchestration, pick and pack, first-mile pickup, returns)
- Shipping Economics (carrier mix, rate card design, cost per successful delivery, what the platform charges and what it keeps)
Responsibilities:
- Own the strategy and roadmap for shipping and fulfillment, prioritized on merchant retention and contribution per shipment, not feature count.
- Decide how each order is routed and priced: which provider carries it, at what service level, at what cost, and what the merchant pays.
- Raise delivery reliability where it is measurable: first-attempt success, service-level accuracy, exception rate, return to origin, and cash-on-delivery reconciliation.
- Build the integration layer that makes onboarding a new provider fast and keeps it stable once live: status mapping, retries, fallbacks, monitoring.
- Extend the product past last-mile delivery, choosing capabilities on merchant retention impact rather than on integration ease.
- Decide which shipping capability is free and which is paid, and defend where the line sits.
- Own the metrics with the data team, and move volume between providers when the performance data says to.
- Proven ownership of a shipping, fulfillment, or order-management product on a platform serving many businesses at once, with the numbers you moved: delivery success rate, service-level accuracy, exception rate, cash-on-delivery accuracy, or cost per shipment.
- Commercial fluency in shipment economics: you have built, priced, or renegotiated a rate card, and can explain how zone, weight, service level, cash on delivery, surcharges, and failed deliveries move cost per parcel.
- Depth past last-mile delivery in at least two of: inventory placement, warehousing or third-party fulfillment orchestration, pick and pack, first-mile pickup, reverse logistics, cross-border.
- Technical grounding in integrations: interfaces, webhooks, status mapping, retries, reconciliation. You can explain how a courier integration actually breaks and what made yours stable long term.
- Experience as the single product owner for a dedicated engineering squad, working across operations, commercial, and support rather than around them.
- Strongly preferred: you have built product on top of a partner network, where the company sold partner capacity and built its own capability alongside it.
- Seven or more years in product management. Full professional fluency in Arabic and English is required, and GCC logistics context is preferred over theoretical knowledge. Willing to relocate to Saudi Arabia.
Requirements
- •Proven ownership of a shipping, fulfillment, or order-management product on a multi-tenant platform
- •Commercial fluency in shipment economics (rate cards, zone/weight pricing, surcharges)
- •Depth in at least two of: inventory placement, warehousing, 3PL orchestration, pick and pack, first-mile, or reverse logistics
- •Technical grounding in integrations (interfaces, webhooks, status mapping, retries, reconciliation)
- •Experience managing delivery success rates, service-level accuracy, and cash-on-delivery reconciliation
Responsibilities
- •Own the strategy and roadmap for shipping and fulfillment prioritized on merchant retention and contribution
- •Decide order routing and pricing (provider selection, service levels, and merchant costs)
- •Improve delivery reliability metrics including first-attempt success and exception rates
- •Build and maintain the integration layer for fast provider onboarding and platform stability
- •Extend product capabilities beyond last-mile delivery based on merchant retention impact
- •Define and defend the pricing model for shipping capabilities (free vs. paid)
- •Collaborate with the data team to monitor metrics and move volume between providers based on performance
