Senior Infrastructure / Cloud Engineer

Goodman Masson is partnering with a new financial markets venture under formation in Oman. Backed by prominent institutional investors, the business is building its operations from the ground up and is now hiring during the build phase.

The Role

The Senior Infrastructure / Cloud Engineer will be responsible for designing, managing and securing the organisation’s cloud and on-premises infrastructure. This includes cloud platforms, servers, storage, networking, virtualisation and containerised environments, ensuring systems remain reliable, secure and available.

Reporting to the Head of IT Infrastructure, you will also provide technical leadership and day-to-day supervision to assigned Infrastructure Team Members, coordinating tasks, resolving complex technical issues and supporting the ongoing development of the infrastructure environment.

What You’ll Do

• Manage cloud infrastructure across OCI, Azure and AWS, alongside servers, storage and virtualisation platforms including VMware and Hyper-V.
• Administer Windows and Linux servers, enterprise infrastructure services and containerised environments using Docker and Kubernetes.
• Automate infrastructure deployment, configuration and maintenance using tools such as Terraform, Ansible, PowerShell and Python.
• Support networking, firewalls, VPNs and cloud connectivity to maintain secure and reliable infrastructure services.
• Manage backup, disaster recovery, monitoring and high-availability solutions to support business continuity.
• Implement infrastructure security measures, patching, access controls and relevant compliance requirements.
• Troubleshoot and resolve incidents affecting critical production systems, escalating significant risks and incidents where appropriate.
• Maintain technical documentation, standard operating procedures and infrastructure diagrams.
• Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of assigned Infrastructure Team Members, providing technical guidance and monitoring task completion.
• Coordinate with internal IT teams, cloud providers, technology vendors and service providers on support, maintenance and project delivery.

What You’ll Bring

• A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant professional experience.
• At least five years’ experience in infrastructure and/or cloud engineering.
• Strong hands-on experience managing cloud and on-premises infrastructure environments.
• Sound knowledge of server administration, networking, firewalls, VPNs, backup, disaster recovery and high availability.
• Experience with infrastructure security, patching, access controls and incident management.
• Working proficiency in relevant technologies, including OCI, Azure, AWS, VMware, Hyper-V, Windows and Linux.
• Familiarity with containerisation and infrastructure automation tools, including Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, Ansible, PowerShell and Python.
• Experience supervising, mentoring or guiding technical team members.
• Strong troubleshooting, analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to remain composed when resolving critical production incidents.
• Excellent communication, documentation and prioritisation skills.
• Strong written and spoken English.

Desirable Experience

• Relevant professional certifications in cloud, infrastructure or networking technologies.
• Experience supporting business-critical or highly available production environments.
• Experience coordinating infrastructure projects and working with external technology vendors.
• Proficiency in Arabic.

• Location: Muscat, Oman.
• Omani nationals: Permanent employment.
