Reconciliations Analyst – Financial Markets Infrastructure

Goodman Masson is partnering with a new financial markets infrastructure venture under formation in Oman. Backed by prominent institutional investors, the business is building a greenfield post-trade platform from the ground up and is now hiring during the build phase.

This is a rare opportunity to join a business at the start of its journey, helping establish the reconciliation processes and financial controls that underpin a critical piece of financial market infrastructure.

The Role

We are looking for a bright, analytical and detail-oriented Reconciliations Analyst to join the Operations Control function.

This role would suit someone early in their career who has a foundation in financial services, risk or financial control and is looking to develop specialist experience within financial markets infrastructure. Previous reconciliation experience would be beneficial, but we are equally interested in candidates who demonstrate strong analytical ability, sound judgement and a genuine interest in financial controls.

You will support the daily reconciliation of participants' internal cash balances against funds held in the company's segregated settlement bank accounts, alongside reconciling securities balances against the relevant instrument records.

Working closely with the Reconciliations Lead and wider operational teams, you will investigate discrepancies, track outstanding items through to resolution and maintain accurate records to support effective controls and audit requirements.

What You'll Do

• Support daily cash reconciliations, helping ensure participants' internal cash balances match funds held in the company's segregated settlement bank accounts across relevant currencies.
• Reconcile securities balances against instrument records, ensuring holdings are complete and accurate.
• Investigate, document and track reconciliation breaks and discrepancies through to resolution.
• Work with processing, settlement and other operational teams to understand and resolve outstanding issues.
• Maintain independence from the processing activities being reconciled, following appropriate segregation of duties and internal control procedures.
• Prepare accurate reconciliation records, exception reports and supporting evidence for review by the Reconciliations Lead.
• Monitor outstanding discrepancies and escalate unresolved items or potential control weaknesses appropriately.
• Liaise with settlement banks and, where required, participants to confirm balances and investigate differences.
• Maintain clear and auditable records of reconciliation activities, investigations and resolutions.
• Contribute to improving reconciliation procedures, reporting and financial control processes.

What You'll Bring

• A bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or a related discipline.
• Some relevant experience within financial services, ideally involving risk, financial control, operations control or reconciliations.
• A basic understanding of financial controls and the importance of accurate financial records.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with excellent attention to detail.
• The ability to investigate discrepancies methodically, question inconsistencies and follow issues through to resolution.
• Confidence working with numerical data, spreadsheets and financial information.
• Good organisational skills and the ability to meet deadlines while maintaining accuracy.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across teams.
• A proactive attitude, willingness to learn and the confidence to raise concerns when something doesn't look right.
• Proficiency in written and spoken English.Desirable Experience

The following would be particularly valuable:

• Previous exposure to cash reconciliations, bank statements, account balances or securities positions.
• Experience in a risk, financial control, audit or other control-focused role within financial services.
• Familiarity with banking operations, settlement processes or segregated cash accounts.
• Experience using spreadsheets or financial systems to analyse data and investigate discrepancies.
• A recognised accounting or financial services qualification, or progress towards one.
• Knowledge of Arabic, in addition to English.

Location and Terms

Based in Muscat, Oman. Permanent for Omani nationals; two-year fixed-term contract for expatriate hires. Omani nationals are strongly encouraged to apply.
