How we make our guides
MenaJobs publishes career, salary, visa and hiring guides for the six GCC countries. This page explains exactly how they are produced, what they are based on, and how to tell us when something is wrong.
AI-assisted drafting
Our guides are drafted with the help of AI language models and then structured, checked and maintained by the MenaJobs Hiring Desk. We say so on every guide (the “AI-assisted” label next to the byline) because you should know how a page was made before you rely on it.
AI drafts can be out of date or wrong, especially on fast-changing rules such as visas, fees and labour law. Always confirm anything legal or financial with the official source before you act on it.
The MenaJobs Hiring Desk
The MenaJobs Hiring Desk is the team function that compiles and maintains our guides and data pages. It is not a person, and we do not attach invented names or credentials to it. A guide shows “Reviewed by” a named person only when that person has actually reviewed that page, with the review date.
Live job data
Many guides include a “Live in our data” panel. It is computed from the active job listings on MenaJobs at the date shown: the number of open jobs that match the guide, the employers and cities appearing most often among the latest matching postings, and the newest openings.
We do not publish salary figures derived from our listings: only a small share of postings state a salary, which is too few to be representative. Salary ranges in our guides are estimates, not averages of MenaJobs postings.
Sources
Salary, visa, labour-law and cost-of-living guides list the official bodies to check, such as the UAE Ministry of Human Resources & Emiratisation, Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development and GOSI, and the labour and immigration authorities of Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain and Oman. These are where the rules are published; linking to them does not mean they have reviewed or endorsed our guides.
When an official source and one of our guides disagree, the official source is right.
Updates and corrections
Each guide shows the date it was last updated. We revise guides when rules change or when readers report problems.
