Eram Talent is hiring for one of its most prestigious clients in Saudi Arabia for experienced Rotating Equipment Engineers specializing in Turbine Testing or Pump Testing.
The primary responsibility of this role is to plan, execute, and evaluate mechanical, functional, and performance testing of overhauled rotating equipment, with a specialization in either industrial steam turbines or pumps. The role requires strong technical expertise in equipment assembly, testing procedures, instrumentation, vibration analysis, performance evaluation, troubleshooting, and quality assurance to ensure equipment reliability, safety, and compliance with applicable industry standards.
Key Responsibilities
As the successful candidate, you will be required to perform the following:
1. Test Engineering & Planning
- Review equipment drawings, technical specifications, overhaul reports, repair scopes, and testing requirements to establish appropriate test procedures, operating conditions, and acceptance criteria.
- Develop and review test plans, verify test rigs and systems, and ensure the availability and calibration of required instrumentation.
- Ensure testing activities comply with applicable industry standards, client specifications, quality requirements, and workshop safety procedures.2. Mechanical, Functional & Performance Testing
- Execute mechanical, functional, and performance testing of overhauled rotating equipment, specializing in either steam turbines or pumps.
- For turbine testing, perform slow-roll, uncoupled run, overspeed, trip, governor, trip-and-throttle valve, lubrication, vibration, temperature, and leakage tests, as applicable.
- For pump testing, conduct hydrostatic, mechanical running, and performance tests, including the evaluation of flow rate, differential head, pressure, power consumption, efficiency, vibration, bearing temperature, and leakage, as applicable.
- Verify equipment operating conditions, test-system readiness, instrumentation accuracy, safety interlocks, and protective systems before and during testing.3. Performance Evaluation & Technical Analysis
- Evaluate test results against approved procedures, manufacturer specifications, contractual requirements, and applicable testing standards.
- For turbines, assess speed, steam conditions, power output, efficiency, heat rate, valve response, and governor stability, as applicable.
- For pumps, evaluate head-flow characteristics, efficiency, power requirements, operating curves, and performance against specified duty points and acceptance criteria.
- Interpret test data, identify performance deviations, and recommend corrective actions to achieve the required operating and acceptance parameters.4. Diagnostics, Troubleshooting & Root Cause Analysis
- Diagnose mechanical and performance-related issues, including excessive vibration, bearing problems, shaft misalignment, thermal effects, lubrication issues, abnormal temperatures, leakage, and instability.
- For turbines, investigate rotor dynamics, steam-path losses, governor malfunctions, trip-system issues, and lubrication-related failures.
- For pumps, investigate cavitation, hydraulic instability, inadequate flow or head, seal leakage, impeller-related issues, bearing failures, and abnormal operating conditions.
- Conduct root cause analysis (RCA), recommend corrective and preventive actions, and validate equipment performance through retesting where required.5. Technical Documentation & Quality Assurance
- Prepare and review test procedures, inspection records, calibrated-instrument lists, performance curves, certified test reports, deviation reports, and technical recommendations.
- Document test results, identify non-conformities, and coordinate corrective actions with repair, assembly, inspection, and quality teams.
- Ensure complete technical documentation and verification of acceptance criteria before recommending equipment release to service.6. Equipment Assembly & Workshop Support
- Provide technical guidance on rotating equipment assembly, rotor and shaft inspection, bearing and seal clearances, alignment, and mechanical integrity verification.
- Support workshop teams in resolving assembly, repair, testing, and performance-related issues.
- Collaborate with engineering, maintenance, quality, and workshop personnel to improve equipment reliability, testing effectiveness, and compliance with technical requirements.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from a recognized and approved program.
- At least 15 years of rotating equipment experience, including a minimum of 8 years of relevant hands-on experience in industrial steam turbine or pump repair, overhaul, assembly, diagnostics, or testing.
- Demonstrated practical experience in either steam turbine testing or pump testing, including mechanical running tests, performance evaluation, troubleshooting, and technical reporting.
- Strong knowledge of rotating equipment fundamentals, vibration analysis, rotor dynamics, shaft alignment, bearings, seals, lubrication systems, and machinery protection.
- Experience with mechanical and performance testing instrumentation, including vibration, temperature, pressure, flow, speed, and power measurement systems.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, equipment specifications, test procedures, performance curves, and applicable industry standards.
- Proven capability in root cause analysis, technical problem-solving, performance assessment, and preparation of detailed engineering reports.
Preferred Qualifications
• Relevant OEM training or specialized technical training in steam turbines or pumps.
• Experience with applicable API standards and other recognized rotating equipment testing standards.
• Mobius vibration analysis certification, Category II or higher, or equivalent qualification.
• ICML MLA I or an equivalent lubrication certification.
• Hands-on experience with workshop test rigs, instrumentation systems, machinery protection systems, and equipment acceptance testing.
• Experience in industrial, oil and gas, petrochemical, power generation, or other process-industry environments.
Specialization: Candidates must have substantial hands-on expertise in either Steam Turbine Testing or Pump Testing.
Requirements
- •Strong technical expertise in equipment assembly and testing procedures
- •Proficiency in instrumentation and vibration analysis
- •Experience in performance evaluation and troubleshooting
- •Knowledge of quality assurance and industry standards
- •Experience with industrial steam turbines or pumps
Responsibilities
- •Review equipment drawings, technical specifications, and overhaul reports to establish test procedures
- •Develop and review test plans and verify test rigs and systems
- •Perform mechanical, functional, and performance testing of overhauled rotating equipment
- •Conduct specific tests for turbines (slow-roll, uncoupled run, overspeed, trip, etc.)
- •Conduct specific tests for pumps (hydrostatic, mechanical running, performance tests)
- •Verify equipment operating conditions, instrumentation accuracy, and safety interlocks
- •Evaluate test results against manufacturer specifications and contractual requirements
- •Diagnose mechanical and performance-related issues including vibration, misalignment, and thermal effects
