Job Description
About the Client
The client is a Dubai-based real estate developer creating next-generation residential and commercial destinations. Its developments combine architecture, technology and longevity-led wellness design. Smart, connected living is built into every product, with AI-driven ecosystems at its core. The client is now expanding into autonomous services, using robotics to deliver personalised, ambient experiences for residents and businesses.
Role Overview
The client is seeking a highly skilled, hands-on Robotics Systems Engineer to lead the integration of autonomous robotics into its commercial and residential product offerings. This role sits at the intersection of Physical Robotics, Smart Home Automation and Data Analytics.
You will be responsible for the end-to-end lifecycle of the robotic fleet, from procurement and hardware configuration to complex integration with a Home Assistant-based ecosystem. The ideal candidate is a “maker” who moves seamlessly between physical hardware setup, low-level robot configuration and high-level data orchestration to create personalised, autonomous experiences for users.
Key Responsibilities
1. Robotics Procurement & Lifecycle Management
- Identify, source and purchase best-in-class robotic hardware for diverse use cases (e.g., Roomba/Eufy for cleaning, specialised AMRs for concierge and delivery).
- Manage the maintenance, repair and hardware lifecycle of all robotic devices across the product portfolio.
- Evaluate new robotics technologies to ensure they align with the client’s quality and aesthetic standards.2. Configuration & Deployment
- Perform the physical setup, calibration and software configuration of robots for residential and commercial installations.
- Develop standardised deployment protocols to ensure consistent performance across different environments (e.g., office lobbies, meeting rooms, private homes).
- Troubleshoot hardware-level issues and optimise robot navigation and pathfinding in complex physical spaces.3. Smart Home & IoT Integration
- Build deep integrations between robotic devices and the Home Assistant platform to enable seamless interaction with the smart home ecosystem.
- Develop custom automations that allow robots to respond to environmental triggers (e.g., a robot delivering drinks when a meeting room is booked).
- Ensure low-latency, reliable communication between robots and the central smart home “brain”.4. Data Capture & Personalisation
- Architect systems to capture data from robotic interactions for use in the analytics engine.
- Work with the software team to leverage this data to provide personalised experiences, allowing robots to adapt to specific user preferences and routines.
- Monitor robot performance metrics to proactively identify and resolve bottlenecks in the user experience.5. Robotics Lab & Innovation
- Own and manage the in-office Robotics Lab, serving as a sandbox for testing, prototyping and showcasing new capabilities.
- Develop and demonstrate “Good Use Case” prototypes, such as:
- Concierge Services: Autonomous reception and visitor greeting.
- Meeting Room Services: Automated beverage service and room resets.
- Autonomous Maintenance: Advanced cleaning, floor monitoring and security patrols.
Technical Requirements
- Robotics Hardware: Experience with AMRs, Roomba/Eufy ecosystems and service robots.
- Smart Home / IoT: Home Assistant (Expert), ESPHome, MQTT, Zigbee/Z-Wave.
- Configuration & OS: ROS (Robot Operating System), Linux SysAdmin, Firmware Flashing.
- Data & Analytics: Python (Expert), Data Capture protocols, Basic SQL/NoSQL.
- Networking: Wi-Fi Networking, VPNs, Local Network Optimisation.
- Hardware Skills: Soldering, basic electronics, mechanical assembly and troubleshooting.
Preferred Qualifications
- Proven track record of deploying autonomous robots in commercial or residential settings.
- Advanced Home Assistant experience (custom components, complex YAML automations).
- A “Maker” mindset: you enjoy building, breaking and fixing physical hardware.
- Experience with data visualisation or analytics to improve machine learning and behavioural models.
Why This Role?
This is not a standard maintenance role. You will be at the forefront of Physical Intelligence, building systems that don’t just “exist” in a space but actively participate in it. If you are passionate about robotics, the Home Assistant ecosystem and creating the future of ambient service, we want to hear from you.
Additional Suggestions for the Candidate
- Portfolio Focus: We highly value candidates who can demonstrate a working robotic integration (e.g., a robot controlled via Home Assistant or a custom-configured cleaning fleet).
- Innovation Mindset: We want someone who can look at a meeting room and immediately see three ways a robot could make it more efficient.
- System Resilience: Given the importance of these robots to customers, a “reliability-first” mindset regarding hardware uptime and connectivity is crucial.
Compensation & Benefits
- Competitive Tax-Free Salary: A market-leading monthly package in AED, commensurate with experience.
- Performance Incentives: As per Company Internal Policy
- Visa & Medical Insurance: Full UAE visa sponsorship and comprehensive health cover.
- Paid Leave: 30 days annual leave plus UAE public holidays.
- Annual Flight Ticket & End-of-Service Gratuity: As per UAE market practice and labour law.
- Top-Tier Tooling: Modern hardware and a fully equipped in-house Robotics Lab.
- Learning & Career Growth: Certification and conference support, with a clear path to leadership.
- Autonomy & Impact: Build the robotics function from the ground up and shape how autonomous services operate in the physical world.
Requirements
- •Highly skilled, hands-on experience in Robotics Systems Engineering
- •Experience in Physical Robotics and Smart Home Automation
- •Proficiency in Data Analytics
- •Ability to move between physical hardware setup and high-level data orchestration
- •Experience with Home Assistant-based ecosystems
- •Knowledge of robotic navigation and pathfinding in complex spaces
Responsibilities
- •Identify, source, and purchase best-in-class robotic hardware (e.g., Roomba, AMRs)
- •Manage maintenance, repair, and hardware lifecycle of all robotic devices
- •Perform physical setup, calibration, and software configuration of robots
