Position Overview
Lead daily laser production operations within Stamping Ops. to achieve safe, stable, and efficient delivery of production targets. The role is responsible for shift coordination, manpower assignment, line readiness, laser production tracking, quality containment, downtime escalation, team communication, 5S, and support of continuous improvement activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead production team members during the shift to meet safety, quality, delivery, and productivity targets.
- Review production plan, part numbers, material requirements, manpower allocation, and line readiness before start of shift.
- Coordinate laser line set-up, material flow, equipment readiness, production start-up, and first-off approval activities.
- Monitor production output, downtime, scrap, quality performance, line speed, alarms, and abnormal conditions throughout the shift.
- Use production systems, HMI, and machine interfaces to support fault recovery, verify equipment status, and escalate repeated or critical issues.
- Ensure first-off, in-process, and final quality checks are completed and quality concerns are contained per escalation process.
- Coach operators on standard work, safe behavior, defect recognition, shift handover discipline, and basic troubleshooting.
- Coordinate with maintenance, quality, material handling, engineering, and production supervision for issue resolution.
- Maintain accurate shift records including output, downtime reasons, scrap, manpower, quality issues, and open actions.
- Drive 5S, housekeeping, abnormality reporting, and continuous improvement actions within the production area.
Skills
- Strong understanding of laser production line operations, material flow, product quality requirements, and shop floor production flow.
- Ability to lead a shift team, assign work, give clear direction, and maintain discipline against standard work.
- Knowledge of HMI / machine interface systems for alarms, line status, fault recovery, and escalation support.
- Good problem-solving capability for downtime, quality defects, material flow issues, equipment interruptions, and production disruptions.
- Effective communication with production, maintenance, quality, engineering, and material handling teams.
- Ability to train operators, support certification requirements, and reinforce safety, quality, and 5S standards.
Minimum Qualifications
- Technical associate degree (automotive manufacturing preferred).
- Minimum 4 years of manufacturing experience, including at least 2 years in stamping, production operations, or related manufacturing processes. Previous team leadership experience preferred.
- Experience in automotive manufacturing, stamping, laser production line operation, metal processing, or related manufacturing environment preferred.
- Previous team leader, senior operator, line lead, or shift coordination experience preferred.
- Basic knowledge of quality checks, non-conformance reporting, downtime tracking, 5S, and safe material handling required.
- Ability to work rotating shifts, support overtime when required, and communicate shift status clearly in English.
