The District Logistics Director leads the development, governance and implementation of the construction logistics strategy across an assigned district or portfolio of districts. The role provides strategic leadership for district logistics planning, construction access, traffic management, haul routes, temporary land use, contractor interfaces and operational readiness, ensuring that logistics requirements are integrated with district development programs, infrastructure delivery, venue activation and asset handover.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategy and Leadership
- Lead the development and implementation of the district construction logistics strategy.
- Establish the district logistics operating model, priorities, governance arrangements and performance requirements.
- Translate city-wide logistics requirements into coordinated district plans and delivery actions.
- Provide strategic logistics advice to district leadership, project teams and delivery partners.
- Lead, manage and develop the district logistics team, with clear accountabilities, escalation routes and decision authorities.
Planning and Integration
- Direct the preparation, review and implementation of District Logistics Plans and associated management plans.
- Integrate logistics requirements with master plans, development programs, procurement strategies and construction packages.
- Oversee construction access, haul routes, traffic management, temporary facilities, staging areas and logistics compounds.
- Direct scenario planning and optioneering where access or logistics constraints could affect program delivery.
Stakeholder and Interface Management
- Act as the senior district point of contact for construction logistics matters.
- Lead coordination with contractors, consultants, district teams, infrastructure teams, operators and authorities.
- Chair district logistics meetings and ensure actions, risks and decisions are recorded and closed.
- Resolve significant logistics conflicts and represent logistics requirements at governance and stage-gate meetings.
Delivery Assurance, Risk and Compliance
- Establish monitoring, assurance and reporting arrangements for district logistics performance.
- Ensure contractor logistics plans are implemented in accordance with approved requirements.
- Direct corrective action for non-compliance or operational deficiencies.
- Ensure logistics risks, contingencies, safety, security, environmental, permitting and regulatory requirements are effectively managed.
Operational Readiness and Performance
- Oversee logistics planning for testing, commissioning, venue activation and phased asset handover.
- Coordinate the transition, removal or conversion of temporary logistics arrangements as assets become operational.
- Establish objectives, key performance indicators and executive reporting requirements.
- Drive continuous improvement through performance analysis, lessons learned and digital reporting tools.
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Logistics, Transport Planning or a related discipline.
- Minimum 18 years of relevant professional experience, including significant leadership experience in construction logistics.
- Proven experience leading logistics strategy and delivery on large-scale, complex or multi-package developments.
- Strong experience in logistics master planning, construction traffic management, access planning and haul-route coordination.
- Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and coordinate multiple contractors and stakeholders.
- Strong understanding of construction sequencing, infrastructure interfaces and phased development programs.
- Demonstrated experience in risk management, operational readiness and phased asset handover.
- Excellent leadership, communication, negotiation, reporting and problem-solving skills.
