We're Hiring | Consultant Thoracic Surgeon
📍 Location: ABU DHABI

We are looking for an experienced Consultant Thoracic Surgeon to join a leading healthcare facility in Abu Dhabi. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in the surgical management of diseases affecting the lungs, pleura, mediastinum, chest wall, and other thoracic structures.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive surgical assessment, diagnosis, and management of thoracic conditions.
- Perform elective and emergency thoracic surgical procedures within the scope of clinical expertise.
- Manage benign and malignant diseases of the lung, pleura, mediastinum, and chest wall.
- Perform surgical management of primary and metastatic thoracic malignancies.
- Perform lung resections, including lobectomy, segmentectomy, wedge resection, and pneumonectomy where appropriately trained.
- Manage pleural conditions, including pneumothorax, pleural effusion, empyema, and pleural tumors.
- Perform minimally invasive thoracic procedures, including VATS and robotic-assisted thoracic surgery, where appropriately trained.
- Evaluate and manage mediastinal tumors, chest wall lesions, and thoracic trauma.
- Provide pre-operative assessment, surgical planning, and post-operative follow-up.
- Participate in multidisciplinary thoracic oncology and tumor board meetings.
- Collaborate with pulmonologists, oncologists, radiologists, pathologists, anesthesiologists, and intensive care teams.
- Manage post-operative complications and provide appropriate critical care support.
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation and ensure compliance with patient-safety and clinical governance standards.
- Participate in clinical audits, quality improvement, teaching, research, and CME activities.
Qualifications
• MBBS/MD or equivalent medical degree.
• Recognized postgraduate qualification in Thoracic Surgery / Cardiothoracic Surgery.
• Fellowship or advanced training in Thoracic Surgery is preferred.
• Board certification or equivalent recognized specialist/consultant qualification.
• Minimum 5–10 years of post-specialization experience in Thoracic Surgery.
• Strong experience in thoracic oncology and complex thoracic surgical procedures.
• Experience with minimally invasive thoracic surgery is highly desirable.
• Eligible for DOH Consultant classification/license in Abu Dhabi.
• Excellent clinical, surgical, communication, and leadership skills.
