Job Summary

Leading hospital in the UAE is looking for an experienced Consultant in Intensive Care Medicine to join its advanced critical care team. The role involves managing critically ill patients with complex medical and surgical conditions, providing high-level intensive care, and working closely with multidisciplinary teams across the hospital. The successful candidate will contribute to advanced critical care services, patient safety, clinical excellence, and the ongoing development of ICU protocols and services.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive assessment and management of critically ill patients in the ICU.
• Manage complex medical, surgical, respiratory, cardiovascular, neurological, and multi-organ critical illness.
• Lead the diagnosis and treatment of acute and life-threatening conditions.
• Provide advanced airway management, mechanical ventilation, hemodynamic monitoring, and critical care support.
• Manage patients requiring vasopressors, renal replacement therapy, and other advanced organ-support therapies.
• Respond to hospital emergencies and provide critical care support where required.
• Coordinate patient care with emergency medicine, surgery, cardiology, neurology, anesthesia, and other specialties.
• Participate in multidisciplinary rounds and complex case discussions.
• Support safe transfers and escalation of critically ill patients between departments and facilities.
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation and ensure compliance with patient safety and infection-control standards.
• Participate in clinical audits, teaching, research, quality improvement, and ICU service development.
• Contribute to the development and implementation of evidence-based critical care protocols and pathways.

• Medical degree with recognized postgraduate qualification in Intensive Care Medicine, Critical Care Medicine, Anesthesiology, Internal Medicine, or a relevant specialty.
• American Board, and recognized Western qualification.
• Western-qualified candidate with established Consultant-level experience.
• Strong experience managing critically ill patients in a tertiary hospital or advanced ICU setting.
• Proven expertise in mechanical ventilation, hemodynamic management, airway management, and multi-organ support.
• Experience with multidisciplinary critical care and complex medical/surgical ICU cases.
• Strong clinical judgment, leadership, and emergency decision-making skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to lead and work effectively within a multidisciplinary critical care team.
