Position: Chef
Location: 33 Lorne Street, Auckland
Salary: NZ$20–$30 per hour
Reports to: Executive Chef
About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Chef to join our kitchen team in Auckland. You’ll be responsible for running a designated section of the kitchen, preparing high-quality dishes, maintaining consistency and presentation, and supporting the wider kitchen team during daily operations.
You’ll also have the opportunity to supervise and mentor junior chefs and kitchen staff, while working closely with the Executive Chef and other kitchen sections to ensure smooth service.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook high-quality dishes within your assigned section.
- Ensure food is prepared, cooked, and presented according to recipes and quality standards.
- Maintain portion control and consistency across menu items.
- Supervise, train, and mentor junior chefs and kitchen staff.
- Maintain cleanliness, organisation, and hygiene across your section and storage areas.
- Work collaboratively with other kitchen sections to ensure smooth service.
- Report stock requirements, maintenance issues, and operational concerns to senior staff.
- Follow and uphold food safety, HACCP, hygiene, and workplace safety standards.
- Support the team in following safety, fire, and emergency procedures.
About You
We’re looking for someone who has:
• At least 2 years of relevant commercial kitchen experience.
• Strong cooking skills and excellent attention to detail.
• The ability to maintain consistent quality and presentation.
• Experience supervising or supporting junior kitchen staff.
• The ability to work efficiently under pressure and manage multiple tasks.
• Strong teamwork and communication skills.
• A reliable, professional, and positive approach.
• A culinary qualification or relevant certification is preferred.
