The Specialist Surgical Oncologist is responsible for providing comprehensive, evidence-based surgical management of patients with solid tumors and other oncological conditions. The role includes clinical assessment, diagnosis, surgical planning, operative management, postoperative care, and multidisciplinary coordination to ensure safe and effective cancer treatment.
The Specialist Surgical Oncologist will work closely with medical oncology, radiation oncology, radiology, pathology, gastroenterology, and other relevant specialties as part of a multidisciplinary cancer care team.
Conduct comprehensive consultations, clinical assessments, and physical examinations for patients with suspected or confirmed malignancies.
Review and interpret relevant laboratory investigations, imaging studies, pathology reports, and staging investigations.
Develop individualized surgical treatment plans based on diagnosis, tumor stage, patient condition, and multidisciplinary recommendations.
Perform elective and emergency oncological surgical procedures within the physician's approved scope of practice.
Provide preoperative assessment, informed consent, surgical preparation, and risk counselling.
Perform appropriate cancer resections and related surgical procedures in accordance with accepted clinical standards.
Provide postoperative management, including monitoring for complications, wound care, pain management, nutritional considerations, and discharge planning.
Arrange and participate in appropriate follow-up and surveillance of oncology patients.
Coordinate patient care with medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, radiologists, pathologists, anesthetists, intensivists, and other specialists.
Participate in multidisciplinary tumor boards and contribute to treatment planning.
Communicate diagnosis, treatment options, expected outcomes, risks, benefits, and alternatives clearly to patients and their families.
Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential medical records in accordance with UAE healthcare regulations and facility policies.
Ensure appropriate referral and escalation of patients requiring specialized or higher-level care.
Support clinical quality improvement, patient safety, infection prevention, and risk-management initiatives.
Participate in clinical audits, continuing medical education, teaching, and professional development activities.
Comply with the policies and procedures of the healthcare facility and applicable UAE health authority regulations.
Maintain professional standards, ethical conduct, patient confidentiality, and appropriate communication at all times.
Medical degree (MBBS, MBChB, or equivalent) from a recognized institution.
Recognized postgraduate qualification in General Surgery and/or Surgical Oncology.
Specialist qualification recognized by the relevant UAE health authority.
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; additional certifications as required by the facility.
Relevant fellowship or subspecialty training in Surgical Oncology is preferred.

Requirements
- •Medical degree (MBBS, MBChB, or equivalent) from a recognized institution
