Overview Of The Role:
The Senior Quantity Surveyor is responsible for leading all commercial and quantity surveying functions on MEP projects. This role ensures maximum commercial recovery and adherence to effective cost control measures, while providing proactive contract administration and managing subcontractor relationships. The Senior Quantity Surveyor must ensure compliance with company procedures and commercial governance requirements, and liaise professionally with clients and consultants. Success in this role is measured by accurate monthly valuations, effective variation management, and strong final account settlement practices.
What You Will Do:
General
- Lead all commercial and quantity surveying functions on MEP projects from award to final account settlement.
- Ensure maximum commercial recovery and effective cost control.
- Perform proactive contract administration and variation management.
- Manage subcontractor relations and ensure compliance with company procedures and commercial governance requirements.
Monthly Valuations & Applications
- Ensure accurate and timely submission of monthly applications.
- Achieve certification in line with project cash flow forecasts.
Variation Management
- Identify, price, submit, track, and agree on all variations.
- Maximize project revenue recovery through effective variation management.
Cost Control & Commercial Reporting
- Perform accurate monthly cost value reconciliation (CVR) and forecasting.
- Provide clear CTC reports and margin protection.
Contract Administration
- Issue timely notices and prepare EOT submissions and claims.
- Maintain comprehensive contractual records.
Subcontract Management
- Review, certify, and agree on subcontractor applications, variations, and final accounts.
Final Account Settlement
- Ensure early agreement and closure of final accounts with all stakeholders.
Commercial Risk Management & Client Liaison
- Identify and mitigate contractual and commercial risks impacting project profitability.
- Professionally manage commercial discussions and negotiations with clients and consultants.
Required Skills To Be Successful:
- Advanced MEP measurement and valuation skills.
- Strong contract administration and claims management capability.
- Excellent cost reporting and forecasting skills.
- Proficiency in ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, or Microsoft Dynamics.
What Qualifies You For The Role:
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or quantity surveying.
- Professional Quantity Surveying qualification preferred (MRICS / AIQS / CIOB or equivalent).
- Minimum 10 years' experience in Quantity Surveying and Commercial Management, with 5 years in UAE/GCC MEP contracting.
β’ Proven experience managing large-scale MEP projects and handling claims, EOTs, and variation management.
