About us
Tamara is the leading fintech platform in Saudi Arabia and the wider GCC region with a mission to help people make their dreams come true by building the most customer-centric financial super-app on earth. The company serves millions of users in the region and partners with leading global and regional brands such as SHEIN, Jarir, noon, IKEA and Amazon, as well as small and medium businesses.
Tamara is Saudi Arabia’s first fintech unicorn and is backed by Sanabil Investments, a wholly owned company by the Public Investment Fund (PIF), SNB Capital, Checkout.com, amongst others. The company operates from its headquarters in Riyadh, with additional regional and global support offices.
Your Role
We're seeking a Senior DevOps Engineer for our Engineering team. As a DevOps Engineer you will be crucial in building reliable, secure, and scalable infrastructure that empowers Tamara’s developers to ship with confidence and speed.
Drawing on your proficiency in infrastructure, developer platforms, and cloud-native technologies, you will be responsible for implementing and optimizing core platform capabilities, from Kubernetes clusters and CI/CD pipelines to monitoring and deployment tooling, ensuring strong foundations that scale with our growth.
With experience in supporting internal developer platforms and managing cloud-native systems, you will collaborate with a diverse ecosystem of talented engineers, product managers, and infrastructure experts to improve reliability, reduce operational burden, and enable engineering autonomy across the company, ultimately helping revolutionize the way millions of users shop, pay, and bank.
You are a driven, determined, curious team player, knowing that collective strength means we all win. With a positive outlook, you are solution-oriented–persevering regardless of circumstances, always finding a way through, no matter the challenges.
You will effectively find a way to work with everyone through empathy and respect. You will be driven and comfortable with responding quickly with urgency, with the ability to change course without losing momentum and energy, resulting in great success
Your Responsibilities
- Cloud foundation and security. Environment structure, network topology, IAM and access controls, org policies, and private connectivity. Data residency and regulatory requirements are designed in and enforced by policy, not review. Includes secret management, rotation, and short-lived credentials.
- Kubernetes. Provision clusters on demand, run autoscaling that keeps the platform cost-efficient at scale, and set the standards teams deploy against.
- Delivery pipelines. End-to-end CI/CD covering build, test, security scanning, and progressive rollout (canary, blue-green).
- Observability. Centralized metrics, logs, and traces that make production behaviour explainable — and self-serve for the teams that own the services.
- Resilience. Backup and restore, and disaster recovery you've actually tested against defined RTO/RPO.
- Developer experience. Find the friction and the tech debt, then remove it with automation and self-service instead of tickets.
- Operations. On-call rotation, incident leadership, and the follow-up work that stops repeats.
- Engineering practice. Mentoring, technical reviews, runbooks, and architecture decisions.
- Everything is defined in code, using tools such as Terraform or Pulumi.
Your Expertise
- 5+ years in DevOps, Platform Engineering, SRE, or Infrastructure Engineering.
- Strong cloud fundamentals with production experience on a major provider such as GCP or AWS, and the judgement to apply them anywhere.
- Kubernetes in depth - scheduling, networking, storage, and how clusters behave when things go wrong.
- CI/CD you've built and owned, including security scanning and progressive delivery.
- Deep Linux, networking, and distributed systems expertise. You debug live production problems from symptom to root cause using metrics, logs, and traces
- Track record leading multiple concurrent initiatives: surfacing risks early, aligning stakeholders, and connecting platform and tooling decisions to delivery velocity and business outcomes.
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills, with a passion for mentoring others and improving engineering practices.
Nice to Have
- Experience building or operating internal developer platforms, developer portals, service catalogs, or self-service infrastructure.
- Experience with GitOps, service mesh, policy-as-code, regulated cloud environments, or multi-region cloud operations.
