ROLE SUMMARY
As the most senior in-country legal role, the Legal Director leads, directs and is fully accountable for the legal function of Majid Al Futtaim Development Egypt. The role owns and drives the legal strategy for Egypt, builds and leads the local legal team, and acts as a trusted strategic partner and advisor to the Egypt leadership team. ROLE PROFILE

• Lead the legal function for MAFD Egypt, serving as the senior in-country legal authority and strategic advisor to leadership.
• Define and execute Egypt’s legal strategy, proactively identifying, assessing, and mitigating legal and business risks.
• Build, lead, and develop the legal team, ensuring strong capability, performance, and support for business objectives.
• Manage the legal budget and external legal counsel spend, driving cost efficiency, quality, and value.
• Advise leadership on complex legal, commercial, and regulatory matters to protect the business from legal, financial, and reputational risks.
• Oversee the drafting, negotiation, and governance of high-value contracts, while standardizing legal templates, policies, and playbooks.
• Direct external law firms, litigation, disputes, and regulatory matters, ensuring effective execution of legal strategies and strong representation of business interests.
• Ensure compliance, governance, and corporate controls across all legal activities, while providing full legal oversight of the real estate development lifecycle, construction, corporate matters, contracts, settlements, and litigation in Egypt.
REQUIREMENTS

• Bring 12–15+ years of legal experience in Egypt, with deep expertise in real estate, construction, corporate, commercial, and regulatory matters.
• Demonstrate strong leadership, stakeholder management, negotiation, risk assessment, strategic thinking, and bilingual communication skills (Arabic and English).
• Serve as the most senior legal representative in Egypt, partnering with leadership and reporting directly to the VP, Legal - Development.
• Own the legal budget and external legal spend, driving cost-effective delivery of legal services.
• Lead and manage the in-country legal team and external counsel, ensuring effective legal support and execution of business objectives.
• Full accountability for MAFD Egypt’s legal function, overseeing all legal matters across real estate development, construction, contracts, corporate affairs, settlements, and litigation.
