Job Description

The Design Manager - Transportation will oversee the planning, design, and delivery of transportation infrastructure projects in Qatar. This role involves managing multidisciplinary teams, ensuring compliance with local and international standards, and delivering high-quality designs within budget and schedule constraints. The Design Manager will act as the primary point of contact for clients and stakeholders, ensuring seamless coordination across all project phases.

• Project Management:

• Lead the design and delivery of transportation projects, including roads, bridges, rail systems, and public transit infrastructure.
• Develop project plans, schedules, and budgets, ensuring alignment with client requirements and organizational goals.
• Manage risk, quality, and change processes throughout the project lifecycle.
• Design Oversight:

• Coordinate and review design deliverables, ensuring compliance with local regulations (e.g., QCS, GSAS) and international standards (e.g., IBC, BS, ADA).
• Conduct value engineering studies and propose design optimizations to enhance project efficiency and sustainability.
• Oversee the preparation of technical reports, drawings, and specifications.
• Stakeholder Engagement:

• Liaise with government authorities, clients, contractors, and internal teams to ensure project alignment and approvals.
• Organize and lead workshops, technical meetings, and presentations with stakeholders.
• Team Leadership:

• Manage and mentor a multidisciplinary team of engineers, architects, and planners.
• Foster collaboration across disciplines, ensuring effective communication and coordination.
• Sustainability and Innovation:

• Integrate sustainable design practices into transportation projects, focusing on energy efficiency, multimodal transport, and reduced environmental impact.
• Stay updated on emerging trends and technologies in transportation design.

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Transportation Engineering, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
• Experience:
• Minimum of 15 years of experience in transportation design and project management.
• Proven track record of delivering large-scale infrastructure projects in Qatar or the GCC region.
• Technical Skills:
• Proficiency in design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Civil 3D, VISUM, VISSIM).
• Strong knowledge of transportation modeling, geometric design, and traffic impact studies.
• Certifications: PMP, GSAS, or equivalent certifications are advantageous.
• Soft Skills: Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
