InterContinental Residences Dubai Business Bay is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Culinary Apprentice (Commis III) to join our Culinary team and support the delivery of high-quality food experiences in line with InterContinental brand values and Forbes luxury standards.

This role is essential in supporting daily kitchen operations, maintaining food quality and hygiene standards, and assisting senior chefs in the preparation and presentation of dishes. The Culinary Apprentice plays a key role in ensuring consistency, cleanliness, and efficiency within the kitchen while developing core culinary skills in a luxury hospitality environment.

Located in the heart of Dubai’s Business Bay, the property features 176 luxury apartments. As a Culinary Apprentice, your dedication, teamwork, and willingness to learn will directly contribute to guest satisfaction and the overall success of the culinary operation.

Your Day-to-Day

Every day is different, but you’ll mostly be:

Food Preparation & Production

• Assist in the preparation, cooking, and presentation of dishes under the guidance of senior chefs
• Follow standard recipes, portion control, and plating guidelines
• Support mise en place for daily service and special events
• Ensure food quality, freshness, and consistency at all times

Kitchen Operations & Support

• Support smooth kitchen operations during breakfast, lunch, and dinner service
• Assist senior chefs during busy service periods as required
• Ensure proper use and care of kitchen equipment and tools
• Report equipment issues or maintenance needs promptly

Food Safety, Hygiene & Compliance

• Maintain strict adherence to food safety, hygiene, and HACCP standards
• Ensure cleanliness and organization of workstations, storage areas, and equipment
• Follow proper food handling, labeling, storage, and stock rotation procedures
• Comply with hotel health, safety, and sanitation policies at all times

Teamwork & Learning

• Work collaboratively with chefs and kitchen colleagues to ensure efficient operations
• Take direction positively and demonstrate a willingness to learn and improve
• Participate in training sessions, briefings, and skills development programs
• Support a positive, professional, and respectful kitchen environment

What We Need from You

Qualifications & Experience

• Previous experience as a Commis Chef or entry-level kitchen role preferred
• Exposure to hotel or restaurant kitchen operations is an advantage
• Basic understanding of culinary techniques and kitchen operations

Culinary Skills

• Knowledge of basic food preparation and cooking methods
• Understanding of food safety and hygiene practices
• Ability to follow recipes, instructions, and standard operating procedures

Education

• Culinary certificate or diploma from a recognized institute is an advantage
• On-the-job culinary training will be considered

Personal Attributes

• Positive attitude with a strong willingness to learn
• Reliable, organized, and detail-oriented
• Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced kitchen environment
• Strong teamwork and communication skills
• Flexibility to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays
