Consultant Stroke Medicine (Western Qualified, CCT)

Job Summary

Leading hospital in the UAE is looking for an experienced Consultant in Stroke Medicine with strong expertise in the assessment, diagnosis, acute management, and long-term care of patients with stroke and cerebrovascular disorders. The role offers the opportunity to work within a multidisciplinary stroke and neuroscience team, manage complex acute cases, and contribute to the development of comprehensive stroke services. The successful candidate will play an important role in delivering evidence-based care, improving patient outcomes, and supporting clinical excellence.

Key Responsibilities

• Assess, diagnose, and manage patients presenting with acute stroke and other cerebrovascular conditions.
• Provide timely evaluation and management of ischemic and hemorrhagic stroke.
• Manage hyperacute stroke cases, including assessment for thrombolysis and mechanical thrombectomy pathways.
• Provide ongoing inpatient and outpatient management for stroke patients.
• Develop individualized treatment and secondary prevention plans.
• Work closely with neurology, neuroradiology, neurosurgery, emergency medicine, rehabilitation, and intensive care teams.
• Participate in multidisciplinary stroke meetings and complex case discussions.
• Interpret and integrate relevant neurological imaging and diagnostic investigations.
• Support stroke prevention, rehabilitation, and long-term patient management.
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation and ensure high standards of patient safety.
• Participate in clinical audits, research, teaching, and service development.
• Contribute to the development and implementation of stroke pathways, protocols, and quality improvement initiatives.

• Medical degree with recognized postgraduate qualification in Neurology, Stroke Medicine, Internal Medicine, or a relevant specialty.
• American Board, UK CCT/CCST, or equivalent recognized Western qualification.
• Western-qualified candidate with established Consultant-level experience.
• Strong clinical experience in acute stroke, cerebrovascular disease, and stroke prevention.
• Experience in a comprehensive stroke unit, tertiary hospital, or advanced neuroscience setting preferred.
• Knowledge and experience of evidence-based acute stroke management and reperfusion pathways.
• Strong clinical decision-making and multidisciplinary working skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
