Job Description – Consultant Oral Surgeon
Location: Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates
We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced Consultant Oral Surgeon to join our healthcare team in Abu Dhabi. The successful candidate will provide expert surgical care for diseases, injuries, and deformities affecting the oral cavity, jaws, face, and associated structures. The Consultant Oral Surgeon will perform complex oral and maxillofacial surgical procedures while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care in accordance with DOH regulations and international clinical standards.
Responsibilities
• Diagnose, evaluate, and manage patients with oral and maxillofacial conditions requiring surgical intervention.
• Perform a comprehensive range of oral surgical procedures, including:
• Surgical extraction of impacted and complex teeth
• Dentoalveolar surgery
• Dental implant placement and bone grafting
• Management of oral cysts and benign tumors
• Treatment of maxillofacial infections
• Pre-prosthetic oral surgery
• Biopsy and management of oral lesions
• Surgical management of facial trauma involving the jaws and facial bones
• Temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorders (where credentialed)
• Corrective jaw surgery (orthognathic surgery), where applicable

• Assess and manage oral pathology and refer malignant or complex cases for multidisciplinary care when required.
• Develop individualized treatment plans based on clinical examination, radiographic findings, and diagnostic investigations.
• Perform procedures under local anesthesia, conscious sedation, or general anesthesia as credentialed.
• Collaborate with orthodontists, prosthodontists, periodontists, ENT surgeons, oncologists, plastic surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare professionals.
• Provide pre-operative evaluation and comprehensive post-operative care, including pain management and follow-up.
• Educate patients on treatment options, oral hygiene, post-operative care, and preventive measures.
• Maintain accurate clinical records and documentation using the hospital's electronic medical record system.
• Participate in multidisciplinary meetings, clinical audits, quality improvement initiatives, research, and continuing medical education.
• Supervise and mentor specialists, residents, dental interns, and allied dental professionals.
• Ensure compliance with DOH regulations, hospital policies, infection prevention protocols, radiation safety, and patient safety standards.
• Participate in on-call services and emergency oral and maxillofacial trauma coverage as required.Requirements
- Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS/DDS/DMD) or equivalent dental qualification from a recognized institution.
- Completion of an accredited postgraduate specialty training in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery or Oral Surgery.
- Fellowship/CCT/CCST/Arab Board/American Board/Canadian Board or equivalent qualification recognized by DOH for Consultant registration.
- Eligibility for or possession of a DOH Consultant Oral Surgeon License.
- Relevant post-qualification experience as per DOH Professional Qualification Requirements.
- Valid Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; Advanced Life Support certification is preferred.Benefits

Requirements

- •DOH Consultant Oral Surgeon License eligibility
Nice to Have
- •Experience in temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorders
- •Experience in corrective jaw surgery (orthognathic surgery)
- •Experience in managing oral cancers
- •Experience in facial reconstruction
