Role Profile:
Responsible for developing, maintaining, managing, and implementing Fire, Health & Safety within Alshaya Locations and the day-to-day functions related to the team responsible for Fire, Health and Safety and Procedures.

To act as one of the subject matter experts for Fire, Health and Safety related matters within the business and work with all internal and external stakeholders to maintain and develop the company approach to Fire, Health & Safety management across the business.

Reporting the Director of AP to manage and reduce FH&S risks within the business through taking responsibility for the implementation of strategic initiatives and delivery of operational outputs.

Provide prompt and professional accident / FH&S incident investigation service to the company, working with internal and external resources and ministries. Focus on and offer advice, training and communications around legal/company compliance including updating legal changes and best practice relating to all aspects of Fire, Health and Safety across the Alshaya business.

The below Key Performance Areas include but are not limited to:

Fire Risk Management

• Operate as the subject matter expert for all fire safety related issues within the retail business.

• Work with all internal teams and stakeholders to develop and deliver a fire safety strategy to identify and reduce fire risks within the retail business.

• Develop and maintain strong working relationships with all relevant stakeholders and interested parties both internal and external.

• Identify opportunities for the Health and Safety Team to add value to the wider business and support the Company’s vision and values.

• Work with internal teams (Asset & audit prevention, Brands, Logistics, food factories Insurance and Property GRD, HR) to ensure all parties involved with fire safety have the correct knowledge and competence to effectively discharge their duties.

• Develop, deliver and maintain a suite of Standard Operating Procedures which provide clear fire safety procedural guidance and instruction to all relevant areas of the retail business.

• Develop, deliver, maintain and monitor fire safety arrangements for all company office environments.

• Develop, deliver and maintain a set of technical specifications for key fire safety facilities required within the retail business.

• Develop, deliver, and maintain fire safety training and awareness programs for key areas of the retail business.

• Identify, develop, and deliver awareness raising schemes and solutions to increase H&S understanding, competence and buy-in from the wider business.

• Develop and deliver a program of fire safety risk assessments to provide clear understanding on fire risks and levels of compliance within key areas of the business including retail, offices, and warehouse establishments.

• Take the lead role in the analysis of fire incident data within the retail business.

• Take the lead role in the investigation of any significant fire safety events within the business.

• Work with relevant stakeholders to ensure company arrangements for the testing and maintenance of safety related equipment and instillations are in line with legal requirements, company expectation and best practise

Health & Safety Risk Management

• Lead, direct and develop the field Health and Safety Team.

• Contribute to the development of the companies H&S arrangements through the delivery of any project identified as a key objective.

• Develop and deliver a program of health/fire safety risk assessments to provide clear understanding on health and safety risks and levels of compliance within key areas of the business including retail, offices, food factories and warehouse establishments.

• Develop the risk reviews for protection of people and Alshaya Business locations

• Identify opportunities for the Health and Safety Team to add value to the wider business and support the Company’s vision and values.

• Develop, deliver and support mechanisms for wellbeing

• Assist in the implementation of H&S systems to capture data analysis

• Develop, deliver and maintain a suite of Standard Operating Procedures which provide clear fire safety procedural guidance and instruction to all relevant areas of the retail business as directed by the Director – Asset Protection.

• Work with internal teams to ensure all parties involved with Health and Safety have the correct knowledge and competence to effectively discharge their duties.

• Contribute to the development of the companies H&S arrangements through the delivery of any project identified as a key objective.

• Develop, implement and monitor the H&S / Fire Safety arrangements in place for all Head / Regional Offices within the geographical responsibility of the role.

• Identify, develop and deliver awareness raising schemes and solutions to increase H&S understanding, competence and buy-in from the wider business.

• Write H&S and Fire Risk Assessments for all Stores, Head Offices and Distribution Centre, Food factories as dictated by the identified F, H&S risks.

• Conduct store-based H&S Reviews as and when required, to shadow team

• Conduct all risk assessments to a high standard and quality using company approved templates and documentation.

• Assist in the development of H&S training and awareness modules when required.

• Always conduct all training / awareness modules to a high standard.

• Monitor and manage all H&S related incident reporting relevant to the area of responsibility.

• Undertake detailed and professional investigations for all significant H&S accidents / incidents identifying root cause analysis, remedial actions and role / individual specific action plans to ensure remedial action recommendations are addressed in full.

• Produce detailed accident investigation reports to a high standard of quality and content within agreed timescales using company approved templates and documentation.

• Facilitate insurance surveys and investigations as required

Provide feedback to Senior Management and SLT on Fire, Health, and Safety Risks

• Report any major Fire, H&S risks that affect people or Business to senior management & SLT.

• Produce documented reports to communicate risks, advise and observations, regarding current risks identifying the impact, and subsequent recommendations.

• Conduct Business partnering days with senior leaders, to mitigate Fire, Health, and Safety risk in Alshaya.

• Strong knowledge of fire safety management arrangements and systems / installations

• Strong knowledge of construction safety arrangements and risks.

• Strong knowledge of logistics / warehouse /food factories safety arrangements and risk

Skills:

• Diploma/Degree level qualification in Health and Safety / Fire Safety Management

• NEBOSH Fire Safety (or equivalent).

• NEBOSH General Certificate

• Food Safety – Chartered Institute of Environmental health or equivalent food safety qualification

• Business Auditing - Certified Lead Assessor Internal & External ISO Standards

• Environmental – Certified Environmental Management Assessment

• 10 -15+ years in Fire, Health, and Safety management roles, in high-risk industries.

• Minimum 10 -15 years management level experience in health and safety / civil protection high-risk areas.

• Minimum 10 years’ experience of retail operation

• Minimum 10 years’ experience of leading a health and safety team / department

Requirements
