We are looking for an experienced and dedicated Pain Medicine Physician to join our leading healthcare facility in the UAE.
The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in pain medicine, pain management, and interventional pain procedures, with a patient-centered approach to helping individuals manage acute, chronic, and complex pain conditions.
The successful candidate will work closely with anesthesiologists, neurologists, orthopedic surgeons, neurosurgeons, physiatrists, physiotherapists, oncologists, and other healthcare professionals as part of a multidisciplinary pain management team.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive pain assessments and detailed clinical evaluations.
- Diagnose and manage acute, chronic, and complex pain conditions.
- Develop individualized, evidence-based pain management plans based on the patient's diagnosis, functional goals, and overall health.
- Manage patients with musculoskeletal, neuropathic, spinal, post-operative, cancer-related, and chronic pain.
- Perform appropriate interventional pain management procedures within the physician's training and clinical scope.
- Perform or supervise procedures such as nerve blocks, trigger-point injections, epidural injections, and other appropriate pain interventions.
- Assess patients with back pain, neck pain, radicular pain, joint pain, neuropathic pain, and other persistent pain conditions.
- Evaluate patients referred for difficult-to-manage or treatment-resistant pain.
- Review and interpret relevant X-rays, MRI, CT scans, laboratory investigations, and other diagnostic studies.
- Optimize pharmacological pain management while considering safety, interactions, and individual patient requirements.
- Develop multimodal pain treatment plans combining appropriate medical, interventional, physical, and behavioral approaches.
- Coordinate rehabilitation and functional recovery plans with physiatrists, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, psychologists, and other specialists.
- Provide appropriate pain management for patients with cancer and palliative-care needs where applicable.
- Assess treatment response and modify management plans according to clinical outcomes.
- Educate patients regarding pain conditions, treatment options, lifestyle measures, and realistic treatment goals.
- Provide appropriate follow-up and long-term pain management.
- Recognize and manage complications related to pain medications and interventional procedures.
- Maintain accurate, comprehensive, and confidential patient records.
- Participate in multidisciplinary pain-management meetings, clinical audits, quality improvement, and continuing professional development.
- MBBS, MD, or equivalent recognized medical qualification.
- Recognized postgraduate qualification in Anesthesiology, Pain Medicine, Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation, or another relevant specialty, as applicable to the role.
- Relevant clinical experience in Pain Medicine / Pain Management.
- Strong experience in the assessment and management of chronic and complex pain.
- Experience with appropriate interventional pain procedures.
- Strong knowledge of pharmacological and non-pharmacological pain management.
- Excellent clinical reasoning and treatment-planning skills.
- Good understanding of musculoskeletal and neuropathic pain conditions.
- Excellent communication and patient-management skills.
