Job Purpose
The Resource Manager – Project Development (Geology) is responsible for leading and managing all geology-related activities across project development stages, including Scoping Studies, Pre Feasibility Studies (PFS), and Feasibility Studies (FS).
The role ensures the availability, accuracy, and integrity of geological data, resource models, and mineral resource estimates to support project evaluation and decision-making. It drives value optimization of mineral resources, ensures alignment with international standards (e.g., JORC), and provides integrated geological inputs into mine planning, economic evaluation, and project advancement.
Key Accountabilities
1. Geological Leadership in Studies
• Lead all geological workstreams across Scoping, PFS, and FS studies
• Define geological scope, deliverables, and timelines for each study phase
• Ensure timely and high-quality geological inputs into study reports
2. Resource Estimation & Modelling
• Oversee development and validation of geological models and mineral resource estimates
• Ensure compliance with international reporting standards (e.g., JORC)
• Review and approve resource classification and estimation methodologies
3. Data Management & Quality Assurance
• Ensure integrity, completeness, and proper management of geological databases
• Implement and monitor QA/QC protocols across all geological activities
• Validate that all data used in studies meets required technical and audit standards
4. Integration with Project Development
• Provide geological inputs for mine planning, scheduling, and economic evaluation
• Support pit optimization and mine design through accurate geological interpretation
• Collaborate with mining, geotechnical, hydrogeology, and processing teams
5. Study Planning & Execution
• Identify data gaps and define additional drilling or study requirements
• Manage geological components of study schedules and budgets
• Ensure alignment between exploration outputs and project development needs
6. Contractor & Consultant Management
• Define scopes of work for geological consultants and contractors
• Manage and review deliverables from external consultants
• Ensure contract compliance, performance, and quality outputs
7. Risk Management
• Identify geological risks and uncertainties impacting project viability
• Develop mitigation plans and incorporate them into study outcomes
• Ensure transparent reporting of risks in study documentation
8. Reporting & Governance
• Prepare and review geological sections of study reports
• Provide inputs to technical committees and steering committees
• Ensure documentation meets internal governance and audit standards
9. Team Leadership & Capability Development
• Lead and develop internal geological team capabilities
• Ensure availability of skilled resources to support study delivery
• Promote knowledge sharing and best practices across projects
10. Health, Safety & Environment (HSE)
• Ensure all geological work complies with company HSE policies.
• Promote a strong safety culture across field and office activities.
• Ensure safe practices in drilling, sampling, and site operations.
Minimum Qualifications, Experience and Competencies
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Geology,
Master’s degree is preferred
Minimum Experience:
• minimum 15 years of relevant experience in geology and mineral resource estimation
• Extensive experience in Scoping, PFS, and FS studies
• Proven experience in resource modelling, mine development, and project evaluation
• Experience working with international reporting standards (e.g., JORC, NI 43-101)
