Job Description
• Inspect rail and track construction activities to ensure compliance with approved drawings, specifications, project requirements, and quality standards.
• Monitor installation of rail tracks, sleepers, ballast, fastening systems, and related civil works.
• Verify track alignment, levels, gauge, cant, and geometry as per approved tolerances.
• Inspect earthworks, subgrade preparation, formation layers, and concrete works related to railway infrastructure.
• Ensure proper execution of welding works, rail joints, thermite welding, and stress adjustment activities.
• Conduct inspection of track slab construction, reinforcement, embedded items, and concrete pouring activities where applicable.
• Review shop drawings, method statements, material submittals, and inspection test plans (ITPs).
• Witness field testing activities including compaction tests, concrete tests, rail ultrasonic testing, and track geometry measurements.
• Ensure all materials used on site are approved and comply with project specifications and international railway standards.
• Coordinate with surveyors to verify track coordinates, alignment, and elevations.
• Monitor contractor’s daily site activities and ensure work progress follows approved construction schedules.
• Raise Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs), site observations, and deficiency reports when required.
• Verify corrective actions and ensure closure of NCRs and inspection comments.
• Ensure all inspections and testing activities are properly documented and recorded.
• Coordinate with engineers, contractors, subcontractors, and client representatives for inspection activities.
• Monitor implementation of health, safety, and environmental requirements during railway construction activities.
• Inspect drainage works, cable troughs, utility crossings, and associated rail infrastructure works.
• Ensure protection of existing railway assets and utilities during construction activities.
• Attend site meetings, progress meetings, and technical coordination meetings as required.
• Prepare daily inspection reports and maintain proper QA/QC documentation records.
• Support testing and commissioning activities related to track and rail systems.
• Ensure compliance with relevant railway authority requirements, standards, and regulations.
Qualifications
• Diploma in Civil Engineering or an equivalent qualification from a recognized institution
• Minimum 7 years of professional experience in civil construction inspection, with a strong focus on rail track works, track installation, and associated structural components
• Proven experience in large-scale infrastructure projects, particularly in rail, metro, or heavy transportation systems
• Demonstrated knowledge of railway construction specifications, approved drawings, and Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs) related to track works
• Strong understanding of track alignment, ballast placement and compaction, rail fastening systems, and concrete works associated with track infrastructure
• Familiarity with rail material quality control procedures, including inspection of rails, sleepers, ballast, sub-ballast, and related components
• Proficiency in preparing and maintaining inspection reports, material approvals, and non-conformance documentation (NCRs)
• Excellent command of written and spoken English for effective site communication and reporting
Additional Information
• Experience on major UAE infrastructure or metro projects, such as Dubai Metro (RTA) or Etihad Rail
• Background in freight rail, light rail, or heavy rail track construction projects
• Professional certification in Quality Assurance / Quality Control (QA/QC) or construction inspection is preferred
• Strong knowledge of UAE railway standards, codes, safety regulations, and environmental compliance requirements
