About the location:

Soon to be one of the region’s foremost luxury beachside destinations, The Red Sea will comprise of the idyllic natural islands and lagoons across 200 kms of coastline along the western coast of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, between the cities of Umluj and Al Wajh. The new Four Seasons Resort will be located on Shura Island, the hub of the development and home to a yacht marina, leisure and lifestyle facilities, retail offerings, 18-hole golf course and more. The Red Sea destination is being built with sustainable practices and tourism at its core, with the masterplan being informed by an impressive marine spatial planning simulation to model the environmental impact of development and operations to minimize over-tourism while providing guests with an exceptional travel and lifestyle experience. The destination will also rely on renewable energy and will only develop a small portion of the islands with expansive dedicated conservation zones. The new Four Seasons Resort will offer approximately 149 rooms and suites, all with uninterrupted views over white sand beaches and crystal-clear waters. The property will also feature six restaurant and lounge outlets, meeting and events spaces, a marine discovery centre, Kids for All Seasons space and much more. Whether looking for rest and relaxation or sport and water activities, there will be something for everyone, including a full-service spa with a hammam, tennis courts, three outdoor pools with cabanas, and two separate beaches for families and adults perfect for soaking in the sun or diving down to explore the coral reefs.

Purpose of the Role

The On‑Site Lead is responsible for overseeing the daily repair, maintenance, and operational activities of the Engineering Department. This includes all guest rooms, public areas, critical infrastructure systems, the powerhouse, RO plant, and STP. The role ensures smooth, efficient, and sustainable engineering operations while upholding Four Seasons standards of excellence. The On‑Site Engineering Lead acts as the key operational leader and primary support to the Director of Engineering.

Key Responsibilities

General Leadership Responsibilities

• Support the Director of Engineering in leading, motivating, and developing a skilled and high‑performing engineering team.
• Foster a culture of teamwork, continuous improvement, and service excellence.
• Ensure departmental organization, efficiency, and compliance with company standards and policies.
• Assist in employee development through coaching, training, and active participation in employee relations.
• Uphold and enforce service quality and product standards; consistently lead by example.
• Contribute to departmental budget planning and cost control.
• Represent the Director of Engineering during their absence.
• Read, interpret, and apply MEP layouts, schematics, and technical drawings.

Departmental Operational Responsibilities

• Oversee daily repairs, preventive maintenance, and ongoing servicing of all mechanical and electrical systems within the property.
• Supervise powerhouse operations and monitor system performance.
• Facilitate and deliver training sessions in accordance with annual departmental plans.
• Conduct regular system and equipment inspections; identify training needs and operational gaps.
• Lead onboarding, orientation, and skill development for new team members, ensuring effective oversight of designated trainers.

Specific Duties

• Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date departmental documentation and personnel records.
• Enforce company standards on grooming, conduct, safety, and professionalism.
• Conduct daily operational briefings and monthly departmental meetings as required.
• Provide timely, constructive performance feedback to team members.
• Act as a hands‑on leader who actively supports the team, especially during critical operational periods.
• Establish personal development goals aligned with departmental objectives.
• Contribute to the company’s mentoring program when applicable.
• Ensure all workspaces are clean, safe, organized, and equipped with functional tools.
• Comply fully with safety protocols, environmental guidelines, and hotel policies.
• Perform additional responsibilities or special projects assigned by management.

Daily Operational Responsibilities

• Review duty technician logs and ensure timely follow‑up on all recorded issues.
• Assign daily and shift‑based tasks across morning, afternoon, and overnight teams.
• Manage the maintenance request system in coordination with other departments to ensure timely response and resolution.
• Support departmental recovery and improvement plans; provide reports to the Assistant Director of Engineering.
• Oversee planned preventive maintenance programs for the powerhouse, STP, and RO plant.
• Coordinate daily equipment repairs with engineering specialists (e.g., kitchen, laundry, buggies, pool systems).

Special Requirements

• 15-20 years of relevant hotel engineering experience.
• Previous exposure to powerhouse operations is a significant advantage.
• Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
• Proficiency in English (spoken and written); strong numerical and psychometric ability.
• Diploma or vocational certification in Mechanical, Electrical, or Electromechanical Engineering required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Physically fit and capable of performing operational and technical duties.
• Knowledge of sustainable engineering practices and commitment to environmentally responsible operations.
