Dairy Farm Senior Stockman

Apt Resources is seeking an experienced Dairy Farm Senior Stockman to join our client's operations. As a Senior Stockman, you will be responsible for overseeing the care and management of dairy livestock, ensuring high standards of animal welfare and productivity. This role requires a proactive individual with strong leadership skills and extensive knowledge of dairy farming practices.

Responsibilities

• Supervise daily operations of the dairy farm and manage livestock care, including feeding, milking, and health monitoring.
• Oversee the maintenance of barns, equipment, and pastures, ensuring a safe and clean environment for the animals.
• Assist in breeding and reproductive management of the herd.
• Train and mentor junior stockmen and farm staff on best practices for livestock handling.
• Record and analyze data related to production and herd health.
• Ensure compliance with animal welfare regulations and farm policies.
• Work closely with veterinarians and agricultural specialists to optimize livestock health and productivity.
• Manage feeding schedules and nutrition plans for dairy cattle.
• Participate in budgeting and resource planning for the dairy operation. Requirements

• Minimum 5 years of experience in dairy farm management or a similar role.
• In-depth knowledge of dairy farming practices and animal husbandry.
• Strong leadership and management skills to oversee farm operations and staff.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills.
• Ability to work long hours and adapt to changing farm conditions.
• Certified in animal husbandry or agriculture-related fields is preferred.
• Proficient in using farm management software for data tracking.
