We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced Consultant Ophthalmologist to join our healthcare team in Dubai. The successful candidate will provide expert diagnosis, medical management, and surgical treatment for a wide range of ophthalmic conditions affecting the eye and visual system. The Consultant Ophthalmologist will deliver comprehensive patient care, perform advanced ophthalmic procedures, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure high-quality outcomes in accordance with DHA regulations and international clinical standards.
Key Responsibilities
• Evaluate, diagnose, and manage patients with various ophthalmic conditions.
• Perform comprehensive eye examinations, including visual acuity assessment, slit-lamp examination, fundus evaluation, and intraocular pressure measurement.
• Diagnose and treat conditions including:
• Cataracts
• Glaucoma
• Retinal disorders
• Diabetic retinopathy
• Macular degeneration
• Corneal diseases
• Refractive errors
• Dry eye disease
• Uveitis and inflammatory eye conditions
• Pediatric ophthalmic conditions (where applicable)
• Ocular trauma and emergencies
•
• Perform ophthalmic surgical procedures, including:
• Cataract surgery (phacoemulsification with intraocular lens implantation)
• Glaucoma procedures
• Corneal procedures
• Retinal procedures (where subspecialized)
• Laser treatments
• Minor ophthalmic surgeries
•
• Interpret ophthalmic investigations, including:
• Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT)
• Visual field testing
• Fundus photography
• Fluorescein angiography
• Ocular ultrasound
• Corneal topography
•
• Develop individualized treatment plans and provide appropriate follow-up care.
• Provide pre-operative assessment and post-operative management for ophthalmic surgeries.
• Counsel patients regarding treatment options, surgical risks, preventive eye care, and long-term vision management.
• Collaborate with optometrists, ophthalmic nurses, anesthesiologists, neurologists, endocrinologists, and other specialists for comprehensive patient care.
• Participate in multidisciplinary meetings, clinical audits, quality improvement initiatives, research, and continuing medical education.
• Supervise and mentor ophthalmology specialists, residents, fellows, and allied healthcare professionals.
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation in the hospital's electronic medical record system.
• Ensure compliance with DHA regulations, hospital policies, infection prevention protocols, and patient safety standards.
• Participate in on-call services and emergency ophthalmology coverage as required.Requirements
Qualifications
- MBBS or equivalent medical degree from a recognized institution.
- Completion of accredited residency training in Ophthalmology.
- Fellowship/CCT/CCST/Arab Board/American Board/Canadian Board or equivalent qualification recognized by DHA for Consultant registration.
- Eligibility for or possession of a DHA Consultant Ophthalmologist License.
- Relevant post-qualification experience as per DHA Professional Qualification Requirements.
- Valid Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.Benefits

Requirements
