Job Purpose
Our Engineering Planning and IT Systems is a strategically critical function within Emirates Engineering, responsible for ensuring the safe, compliant, and cost-effective maintenance of one of the world’s largest and most technologically advanced aircraft fleets.
The division leads maintenance planning, reliability oversight, asset lifecycle management, and engineering digital systems to maximise fleet availability, optimise cost performance, and support informed decision-making. By combining operational excellence with digital innovation, the function plays a central role in delivering Emirates’ Commercial Operating Plan, enabling long-term fleet growth, and sustaining industry-leading standards of safety, reliability, and efficiency.

As the Vice President – Engineering Planning & IT Systems you will, provide strategic and operational leadership for Engineering Planning and Engineering IT Systems across the Emirates fleet. The role ensures safe, compliant, cost‑effective, and future‑ready maintenance planning, asset lifecycle management, and digital enablement, supporting the Commercial Operating Plan and long‑term fleet strategy. Leads large, multi‑disciplinary teams and drives continuous improvement, innovation and capability building in line with Emirates’ values and growth ambitions.
In this role, you will:
• Define and lead long, medium and short‑term engineering and maintenance planning strategies to ensure optimal fleet availability, regulatory compliance, and alignment with the Commercial Operating Plan.
• Oversee maintenance planning, work packaging, scheduling, production support, and technical records to ensure safe, efficient and economical execution across aircraft, engines, and components in line with airworthiness requirements.
• Own planned maintenance cost performance and manpower planning for Engineering Planning and IT Systems; partner with P&L on MRO sourcing, contract negotiation, and capacity optimisation, including third‑party opportunities.
• Chair the Engineering Reliability Committee to monitor fleet technical performance, proactively address emerging risks, and drive sustained improvement in dispatch reliability and asset health.
• Lead asset lifecycle planning, including modification programmes and end‑of‑lease transitions, ensuring contractual compliance, minimal financial exposure and optimal commercial outcomes.
• Define and deliver the Engineering IT Systems strategy to enhance productivity, data integrity and decision‑making; ensure effective system support and continuous improvement in partnership with internal technology providers.
• Provide leadership to a large, diverse workforce; shape fit‑for‑purpose organisational structures, strengthen succession and talent pipelines, and actively develop future capabilities, with a strong focus on UAE National development.
Qualification
To be considered for the role, you must meet the following requirements:
• Hold a Degree or equivalent in Engineering and/or Aircraft Maintenance Engineer's Licence.
• Post Graduate Degree in Engineering Management or related field is preferred.
• Have a minimum 12+ years experience in Aircraft Engineering, Maintenance and Planning related activities.
• Have strong business acumen, leadership experience and strategic business initiatives.
• Possess good knowledge of Maintenance Costs, Production Support and Maintenance/ Repair Agreements.
• Have good analytical thinking with problem-solving ability.
