Job Description

Job Summary

The Transport planner will be working under the Senior Transport Planner or the Team Leader of Transport Planning for various Traffic studies project in Bahrain. The Transport Planner will be responsible for preparation of study, preparation of reports, QA/QC etc.

The position of Transport planner involves :

• The ability to prepare Transport Notes, Statements and Reports and Site Access Appraisals.
• An understanding of relevant Bahrain TIA, Parking guidelines and BRDM standard.
• Analysis of traffic survey data
• Carrying out trip generation, parking assessments,
• Using traffic modelling softwares, viz VISSUM/VISSIM and junction nalysis tools like SYNCHRO/SIDRA, etcDuties & Responsibilities

Using prescribed methods and under direct supervision, performs specific and limited portions of a broader assignment of an experienced engineer.

• Applies standard practices and techniques in specific situations, adjusts and correlates data, recognize discrepancies in results, and follows operations through a series of related detailed steps or processes.
• Prepares/ supervises the preparation of drawings and visual aids.
• Performs basic survey work and manage traffic surveys.
• Run Traffic models, calculations and design software.
• Assignments usually include one or more of the following: calculations, preparation of plans and specifications, process study, research investigations, report preparation, and other activities of limited scope requiring knowledge of principles and techniques commonly employed in a specific narrow area of assignments.
• Conducts calculation checks.
• Draws engineering conclusions for data analysis within area of technical proficiency.
• Works on small projects or portions of large projects, with work reviewed by senior or appropriately experienced engineer.
• Researches and ensures assignments meet regulatory and industry codes, Local laws and requirements, as well as client requirements.
• Under direction of a professional or suitable experienced engineer, managers small tasks or portions of larger project.
• Attending meeting and taking MoM.
• Design Co-ordination with team members.
• Assist with delivery of program and profit objectives by completing tasks on time and budget.Professional Development

• Maintain, develop and retain the highest appropriate standard of technical skill.
• Commit to continual professional development by expanding knowledge and skills in integrated transport/land-use planning, travel demand management and modal shift initiatives.Team Work

• Maintain good communication and co-operate with all project team members.
• Find opportunities to cooperate with members of other groups.

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering and Masters in Transport Planning or Transportation Engineering or equivalent will be preferred
• Minimum 5 years of experience in the field of Transport planning or similar
• Knowledge of AutoCAD
• Must have worked on traffic analysis tools such as SYNCHRO, SIDRA, VISUM, VISSIM and HCS and should have successfully handled minimum 2 projects of reasonable size using VISSIM tool
• Must have experience in parking management, parking demand and supply, parking design within buildings, traffic circulations, determining the number of accesses/egresses
• Knowledge of Python and/or Visual Basic (VB/VBA) for transport modeling, data analysis, and process automation is preferred.Person Specification (Personality Attributes)

Authorised to work in Bahrain and previous registration with CRPEP preferred.
