Job Description

• Develop, implement, and maintain QA/QC procedures, Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs), and checklists for structural and road-related works in compliance with RTA specifications, contract documents, and international standards.
• Supervise, monitor, and evaluate the performance of structural and road inspectors, ensuring inspections are conducted as per approved ITPs and quality requirements.
• Review and approve shop drawings, method statements, and material submittals for bridges, underpasses, culverts, retaining walls, shoring systems, road structures, and ancillary highway structures.
• Ensure compliance of road-related structural works including pavements (rigid), concrete barriers, parapets, crash barriers, sign gantries, lighting foundations, and noise barrier foundations.
• Coordinate and inspect foundation and substructure works such as piling, pile caps, abutments, piers, wing walls, box culverts, and utility protection structures.
• Monitor progress of structural and road structure works and report status, risks, and mitigation measures to the Project Manager/Resident Engineer.
• Review, verify, and maintain inspection records, test results, and documentation forming part of as-built drawings and project close-out records.
• Coordinate structural interfaces with roadworks, utilities, MEP services, drainage, traffic diversions, and temporary works to avoid conflicts and rework.
• Liaise with Head Office / Design Team to resolve design queries, RFIs, and technical clarifications related to road and structural elements.
• Identify non-conformances in structural and road-related concrete works, issue NCRs, and ensure corrective actions are implemented and closed in a timely manner.
• Ensure all works comply with RTA safety requirements, temporary works approvals, traffic staging, and construction sequencing constraints.
• Provide technical input to the Planning Engineer regarding structural sequencing, critical road milestones, and recovery plans.
• Participate in technical, progress, and coordination meetings with contractors, consultants, and RTA representatives.
• Assist in the evaluation of variations, EOT claims, and delay analyses related to structural and road structural works.
• Review and approve as-built drawings, method completion statements, and final handover documentation for road structures and bridges.
• Support RTA inspections, audits, and final acceptance of completed road and structural works.
• Provide leadership, mentoring, and technical guidance to junior engineers and inspectors.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering (Master's degree preferred)
• Professional Engineering (PE) license or equivalent certification
• Minimum of 12 years’ experience in construction supervision of operation and maintenance of bridges and roads.
• Strong knowledge of building codes, regulations, and industry standards in the UAE
• Excellent project management skills with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously
• Advanced problem-solving and analytical skills
• Exceptional technical report writing and communication abilities
• Experience in managing large-scale construction projects
• In-depth understanding of building materials, methods, and quality control processes
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, multicultural environment
• Willingness to travel to various project sites within the UAE
• RTA Approved is preffered
