JOB SUMMARY
The Specialist - Pediatric Cardiac Critical Care within the Division of Critical Care and CICU – department of Cardiology is a physician with Board Eligible/Certified qualification in General Pediatrics and additional advanced academic preparation and clinical training in Pediatric Critical Care.
The Specialist – Pediatric Cardiac critical care physician works under the supervision of the Pediatric Cardiac Critical Care Attending Physician, providing family-centered medical care to all critically ill pediatric patients, focusing on the diagnosis and management of acute and chronic diseases while emphasizing health promotion and disease prevention.
The incumbent’s responsibilities include ordering, conducting, and interpreting appropriate diagnostic and laboratory tests, prescribing pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic treatments, and ensuring cost-efficient care delivery. The Specialist also serves as a healthcare resource and patient advocate.
The post holder’s active participation in academic and quality improvement initiatives is encouraged and required. These activities include, but are not limited to, contributing to nursing and allied health education, training residents and fellows, engaging in clinical research, developing divisional guidelines, and collaborating on multidisciplinary quality improvement projects.
Requirements
- •Board Eligible/Certified in General Pediatrics
- •Advanced training in Pediatric Critical Care
- •Experience in diagnosing and managing pediatric cardiac critical care patients
- •Ability to order and interpret diagnostic tests
- •Proficiency in prescribing treatments
- •Experience in health promotion and disease prevention
