Curriculum and Course design
• Preparing syllabi, lessons, and examination papers for theoretical parts of conversion and refresher courses and primer courses for all participants prior to their external courses in ATC
• Prepare and update ATC training manuals to meet requirements of specific courses or individual students on an ad hoc basis in accordance with requirements.
• Development of ATS simulator courses appropriate to the requirements of all operational staff in the Emirates ACC.
• Design and monitoring of simulation exercises and the development and evaluation of procedures and airspace structuring.
• Develop yearly Emergency Continuation courses to meet requirements as laid down in the UAE CARs and present these courses to all operational staff as part of the competency program
Planning and Organising
• Prepare a Progress Check and Assessment plan and update to ensure trainees are provided with the optimum training as per requirements of CARs
• Plan simulator roster to ensure adequate numbers of ATSIs, pseudo pilots and trainees are available to provide right training delivery
• Ensure all documentation required to run training programs as per schedule is in place
• Ensure facilities and infrastructure are available to run training programs
Liaison with Departments in ANS
• Ongoing communication with MATC, SATCS, SUOS, ATC Supervisor, Head Airspace Coordination, Q&S Manager and other GCAA department managers and staff to discuss and/or resolve ATC training related issues.
Training delivery
• Conduct simulation exercises to train, develop and validate ATC and training staff to the required GCAA standard.
• Provide training to participants through “classroom” and OTJ training within the stipulated guidelines and timelines
Infrastructure readiness
• Ensure that all equipment and training facilities are functional to facilitate participants learning in the most appropriate manner.
Performance development and evaluation of participants
• Assess performance and test results in respect of ATCO License/Rating, written/oral exams and prepare progress reports in accordance with GCAA regulations.
• Carry out Periodic Proficiency Checking as Unit Examiners on all ATCOs, Deputy Supervisors and Supervisors in both theoretical knowledge and practical performance at regular intervals as determined by the GCAA.
• Responsible for providing participants with the necessary development courses to further develop their careers.
• Carry out periodic interviews with Supervisors, Deputy Supervisors and OJTIs on the progress of students undergoing operational training
Perform ATCO roles
• Performing ATCO duties to maintain the high standard and quality of operational validation expected of an ATC Instructor and to reflect professional techniques/procedures in course content and material of courses presented
KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:
• 3 years of experience in continuous operational duties as a certified controller.
• Thorough and updated operational knowledge and understanding of the equipment and systems used for the provision of air traffic services in the Emirates FIR.
