Job Description
We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Senior Materials Engineer to join our team in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing material selection, testing, and quality assurance for our metro infrastructure projects. You will leverage your technical expertise to ensure all materials meet stringent specifications and performance standards while driving efficiency and innovation across our operations.
- Evaluate and select appropriate materials for metro infrastructure projects, considering performance requirements, cost-effectiveness, and sustainability factors
- Conduct comprehensive material testing and analysis using laboratory equipment and industry-standard methodologies to verify compliance with specifications
- Develop and implement material specifications, testing protocols, and quality control procedures aligned with international standards and project requirements
- Collaborate with design, construction, and procurement teams to resolve material-related challenges and optimize material performance
- Analyze material failure modes and conduct root cause investigations to implement corrective actions and prevent future issues
- Manage relationships with material suppliers and vendors, ensuring consistent quality and timely delivery of materials
- Prepare detailed technical reports, documentation, and recommendations for project stakeholders and management
- Monitor and maintain compliance with regulatory requirements, safety standards, and quality assurance protocols
- Mentor junior engineers and support team development initiatives to build organizational capability
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance material processes and project outcomes
Qualifications
- 10+ years of professional experience in materials engineering, with demonstrated expertise in material selection, testing, and quality assurance
- Strong knowledge of material properties, behavior, and performance characteristics across various construction and infrastructure applications
- Proficiency with materials testing equipment and laboratory procedures, including mechanical testing and non-destructive testing methods
- Experience with CAD software and materials modeling tools for design and analysis purposes
- Solid understanding of international material standards, codes, and specifications (ASTM, ISO, or equivalent)
- Proven project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver results on schedule
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities with strong attention to detail
- Proficiency in technical documentation, report writing, and data analysis
- Strong organizational and communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across multidisciplinary teams
- Preferred: Prior experience on metro, rail, or large-scale infrastructure projects
- Preferred: Experience with material failure analysis and forensic investigation
- Preferred: Leadership experience managing technical teams or junior staff
- Preferred: Familiarity with project management software and tools
