Role Purpose: The Senior Network Engineer is responsible for the day to day management and maintenance of network devices. Following best practices, the ‘Network Operations Engineer’ will ensure high availability of network operations, maintain integrity of configuration baselines, meet SLAs and operational incidents are controlled.

Responsibilities:

Projects

• Derive configurations from low-high level designs and change requests
• Responsible for any project operational requirements
• Proactively engage with the Project Management Office / Design Authority and External Suppliers / Vendors to ensure timely delivery of allocated projects within the specified project timelines and budgets whilst keeping the Project Management Office updated of progress and well informed of technical risks and issues.
• Conduct Acceptance Testing post project implementationNetwork Operations

• Maintaining LAN/WAN and Telephony infrastructure/devices
• Maintaining virtual private networks, firewalls, email gateway security and Telephony
• Supervising the installation of new hardware equipment
• Responsible for the implementation of new changes solely or with the help of service delivery
• Maintaining and own configuration of various network devices and manage modifications as per change management policy
• Devices-Configuration hardening as per security team requirements and vendors best practices
• Keep up to date documentation about current infrastructure design, assets and topology.
• Keep up with any capacity-sizing changes-violations and initiate needed actions to notify vendors and IT management
• Working knowledge and/or accreditation in Networking (CCIE, CCNP) and IT Operations Management (ITIL Foundation)

Qualifications:

• Bachelors in Computer/IT Network Engineering or Computer Science.
• A minimum of 6 years’ experience in the field.
• Should have an understanding in the following technology areas:
• Routing and Switching (Cisco, Juniper and HP)
• Network Security (L2/L3)
• Encryption
• Firewalls & IPS/IDS (Palo Alto, Fortinet, Barracuda, Forcepoint)
• Network Access Control (Aruba & Cisco)
• Wireless Infrastructure
• Telephony/VoIP Infrastructure
• VPN Technologies (IPSEC, MPLS, SSL, etc.).
• Cloud networking technologies (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP)Additional Requirements

• Working knowledge and/or accreditation in Networking (CCIE, CCNP, CCNA) and IT Operations Management (ITIL Foundation).
• Ability to work in a highly pressurized but fulfilling environment
• Proven collaboration skills, strong written/oral English communication / documentation/ reporting skills, and the ability to influence at a management level;
• Strong problem diagnosis and troubleshooting skills.
• Previous experience in network administration or operations.
• A willingness to work out of hours as required.
• Ongoing up keep of skills, technologies, trends and qualifications against the projects within the project portfolio.
