Senior AI Product Engineer - Abu Dhabi

We are hiring on behalf of a major government transformation initiative in Abu Dhabi that is building one of the world’s most ambitious applied AI programs.

This organisation is creating AI-powered products and platforms that will transform public services across the Emirate. The work spans retrieval systems, agent-based workflows, sovereign AI infrastructure, and production-grade applications that must operate securely, reliably, and at scale.

Role Overview

We are looking for a Senior AI Product Engineer to own the end-to-end delivery of AI-powered products.

You will design and build the retrieval pipelines and agent workflows that power intelligent applications, the backend services that support them, and the user interfaces that deliver value to end users. This role combines applied AI engineering with strong product judgment.

You should be comfortable working across the full stack—from Python-based AI systems and APIs to React frontends—and accountable for how your products perform in production.

At the senior level, you will:

• Own AI product features from concept through production
• Build and optimize RAG pipelines and agent-based systems
• Develop backend services and modern user interfaces
• Make sound technical and product decisions
• Use AI coding tools such as Codex, Claude Code, or similar as part of your daily workflow

Key Responsibilities

End-to-End AI Product Development

• Design and build AI-powered assistants, copilots, and automation tools
• Architect Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) pipelines, including ingestion, embeddings, vector search, and reranking
• Develop agent-based workflows with tool use, planning, and multi-step reasoning
• Build reusable AI components and integration libraries for multiple products

Full-Stack Engineering

• Build React and Next.js interfaces with streaming responses and conversational experiences
• Develop backend APIs and services in Python, Java/Kotlin, or Node.js
• Work with PostgreSQL, Redis, DocumentDB, Azure Blob Storage, and vector databases such as pgvector or Qdrant
• Instrument AI systems using Langfuse and Grafana for tracing and observability

Product Ownership & Engineering Excellence

• Evaluate product requirements and ensure solutions solve the right problems
• Optimize systems for reliability, latency, and user trust
• Document technical decisions and architecture clearly
• Mentor engineers and contribute to engineering best practices

Basic Qualifications

• 7+ years of software engineering experience
• Proven experience shipping end-to-end product features across AI, backend, and frontend layers
• Strong proficiency in Python and experience building LLM-powered systems
• Solid React fundamentals, including state management, accessibility, and performance
• Experience building production APIs in Python, Java/Kotlin, or Node.js
• Working knowledge of PostgreSQL and relational schema design
• Understanding of common LLM production challenges such as hallucination, latency, and context degradation
• Practical use of AI coding assistants such as Codex or Claude Code
• Strong system design, testing, debugging, and performance optimization skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with LangGraph, LangChain, Semantic Kernel, AutoGen, or CrewAI
• Experience designing streaming APIs with SSE or WebSockets
• Strong familiarity with Next.js, Tailwind CSS, TanStack Query, and Zustand
• Experience deploying AI applications on Azure using Docker and CI/CD pipelines
• Familiarity with vector databases such as Qdrant or pgvector
• Experience working in government, public sector, financial services, or other regulated environments
