Job Description
Job Summary
The QA/QC Engineer is responsible for implementing and maintaining the Project Quality Management System to ensure that all infrastructure works comply with contract requirements, approved drawings, technical specifications, authority regulations, and applicable international standards. The role oversees quality assurance and quality control activities throughout the project lifecycle, from construction through testing & commissioning, handover, and project close-out.
The QA/QC Engineer works closely with the Resident Engineer, Material Engineer, Contractors, Laboratories, Authorities, and Project Team to promote a culture of quality, continuous improvement, and compliance.
Key Job Duties
1. Quality Management
- Implement and monitor the Project Quality Plan (PQP) and QA/QC procedures.
- Ensure construction activities comply with contract specifications, approved drawings, and quality standards.
- Monitor contractor compliance with approved Method Statements, Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs), and quality procedures.
- Conduct regular quality audits and site inspections.2. Inspection & Testing
- Coordinate inspection activities and witness material and field testing.
- Review inspection requests, laboratory reports, and test results.
- Verify compliance of completed works prior to approval.
- Ensure proper documentation of all inspections and testing activities.3. Non-Conformance & Corrective Actions
- Review and monitor Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs), Site Observation Reports (SORs), and corrective action plans.
- Ensure timely implementation and close-out of corrective and preventive actions.
- Identify recurring quality issues and recommend improvement measures.4. Material & Documentation Control
- Coordinate with the Material Engineer regarding material approvals and compliance.
- Review quality-related submittals, technical documents, and as-built records.
- Maintain quality registers, inspection records, and project documentation.5. Stakeholder Coordination
- Liaise with the Client, Contractors, Authorities, and Testing Laboratories on quality-related matters.
- Participate in quality meetings, technical reviews, and project inspections.
- Support testing & commissioning and final handover activities.6. Reporting & Continuous Improvement
- Prepare quality reports, KPI dashboards, and audit summaries.
- Monitor quality performance trends and recommend process improvements.
- Promote best practices and quality awareness across the project team
Qualifications
Required Qualifications & Experience
Education
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or an equivalent engineering discipline.
- Lead Auditor (ISO 9001) certification or equivalent quality management certification is preferred.Experience
- Minimum 10–15 years of QA/QC experience on major infrastructure projects.
- Proven experience in roads, utilities, drainage, sewerage, potable water, irrigation, public realm, and transportation projects.
- Strong experience in construction supervision and consultancy environments.
- Experience with UAE authority requirements and quality management procedures is highly desirable.Technical Skills
- Strong knowledge of QA/QC systems, ISO 9001, Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs), Method Statements, and construction quality standards.
- Experience reviewing material approvals, laboratory testing, NCRs, SORs, and quality documentation.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, document management systems (e.g., Asite), and quality reporting tools.
- Good understanding of FIDIC contracts and construction supervision practices.Behavioural & Management Competencies
