A Principal Specialist in Portfolio Management is a senior-level role responsible for overseeing the strategic management, optimization, and performance evaluation of the company's portfolio of mining projects and investments. This position involves developing portfolio strategies, conducting risk assessments, and providing recommendations to maximize shareholder value and achieve corporate objectives.
What You Will Deliver
Develop and implement portfolio management strategies, including asset allocation, risk management, and investment prioritization, to optimize the company's portfolio of mining projects and investments.
Conduct comprehensive evaluations of existing and potential mining projects, including financial analysis, risk assessment, and strategic fit analysis, to support decision-making on project acquisition, divestment, or development.
Monitor and analyze the performance of mining projects and investments, including financial performance, operational performance, and key performance indicators (KPIs), and identify opportunities for value creation and portfolio optimization.
Develop and maintain portfolio models, dashboards, and reporting tools to track portfolio performance, assess risk exposure, and support decision-making by senior management and the board of directors.
Conduct scenario analyses, sensitivity analyses, and stress testing to evaluate the impact of market trends, commodity price fluctuations, and geopolitical risks on the company's portfolio and develop risk mitigation strategies.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including finance, operations, and technical departments, to gather data, assumptions, and inputs for portfolio analysis, ensuring accuracy and relevance of analyses.
Provide strategic insights and recommendations to senior management and the board of directors on portfolio optimization, investment opportunities, divestment strategies, and capital allocation decisions.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in finance, Economics, Business Administration, or related field; advanced degree (Master's or MBA) preferred.
Professional certification such as Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), Financial Risk Manager (FRM), or Project Management Professional (PMP) is highly desirable.
Experience
Minimum of 10-15 years of experience in portfolio management, investment management, corporate finance, or strategic planning, preferably within the mining industry or related sectors.
Skills That Matter:
In-depth knowledge of portfolio management principles, investment analysis techniques, and financial modeling methodologies used in evaluating mining projects and investments.
Proficiency in financial analysis, valuation, and risk assessment techniques, with the ability to interpret financial data, identify trends, and draw meaningful insights to support decision-making.
Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to conduct complex analyses, develop robust financial models, and present findings clearly and persuasively to senior management and stakeholders.
