PLC Specialist - Lead Package Interface

Company Description

IOTA Group is recruiting for large-scale LNG bunkering project supporting energy transition initiatives within a major international operator environment. The role sits within the commissioning and start-up team of a complex onshore LNG facility involving liquefaction, storage, utilities, and loading systems.

The position focuses on Package PLC and control system integration, ensuring safe, reliable, and fully validated automation systems ready for start-up, operations, and long-term performance.

Job Description

• Lead Package PLC / ICSS interface activities during commissioning and start-up phases
• Review and validate PLC architectures, control logics, cause & effects, and narratives
• Ensure full integration of PLC systems with DCS/ICSS, including PCS, SIS, FGS, networks, and historians
• Supervise FAT, SAT, SIT, and operational test procedures and acceptance criteria
• Monitor contractor execution of PLC commissioning activities and ensure compliance with project requirements
• Manage troubleshooting of PLC, instrumentation, and communication/network issues during commissioning and early operations
• Support energization, loop checks, start-up sequencing, and system stabilization
• Verify start-up readiness (alarms, bypasses, backups, communications, diagnostics, as-built software)
• Coordinate multi-discipline teams (Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation) on site
• Support handover to operations, including documentation, training, and competency development
• Ensure HSE, cybersecurity, and SIL compliance throughout all activities

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Engineering (Automation, Control Systems or equivalent)
• 15+ years’ experience in Oil & Gas industry, including LNG projects
• 10+ years in PLC / Package Coordination roles in commissioning environments
• Strong hands-on expertise with PLC systems and vendors (e.g., Emerson, Siemens, Schneider, ABB, Honeywell, Rockwell, Foxboro)
• Proven experience in LNG plant commissioning and start-up phases
• Strong knowledge of ICSS/DCS/SIS integration and industrial communication networks (Profibus, Modbus, Ethernet/IP)
• Experience in package systems coordination across complex EPC environments
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and interface management skills
• Leadership in multi-disciplinary, contractor-facing environments
• Strong commitment to HSE, operational safety, and procedures compliance
• Excellent English communication skills (written and spoken)
• Ability to mentor, train, and support operational teams
