Role Purpose:
Provide direct clinical care, which encompasses physiotherapy assessment, treatment and management of patients within the Aspire Academy Sports Medicine Centre (AASMC).
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES & ACTIVITIES:
• Independently assess, analyse, and provide clinical diagnoses to determine the need for physiotherapy interventions.
• Plan, implement, evaluate, and advance patient care to optimize rehabilitation potential.
• Manage the treatment progression of patients independently and efficiently handle a caseload of athletes.
• Contribute significantly to the development of assessment and treatment protocols.
• Perform independent charting using the SOAP format and make discharge planning decisions in collaboration with the physiotherapist.
• Assist doctors and physiotherapists with nursing and staff education programs.
• Deliver in-service briefings after attending courses or conferences and support the in-service training of physiotherapy staff.
• Actively participate in team and physiotherapy in-service training to promote personal and professional development.
• Participate in camp, competition and sports events coverage both within and outside Qatar, when required.
• Participate in the Personal Development and Performance Review system to promote personal and service developments.
• Participate in clinical audit to support the physiotherapy service Clinical Governance Strategy.
• Liaise with Lead Physiotherapist to gain support and direction in management of their caseload.
• Work as part of a team to ensure effective Communication and delivery of care.
• Communicate and make recommendations to all relevant disciplines of staff to maximise patient care and promote multidisciplinary team working.
• Maintain accurate records aligned with clinical excellence principles.
• Ensure individualized electronic medical records are up-to-date and accurate for each athlete.
• Demonstrate proficiency in information technology, including efficient and effective data entry.
• Generate reports, compile statistics, and manage record-keeping as required.
• Assist the Clinic Director in coordinating AASMC medical educational activities.
• Deliver clinical education to multidisciplinary staff, including topics such as infection control and safety practices affecting athlete and staff health.
• Orient new staff to clinic policies and practices.
• Maintain annual mandatory and core competencies relevant to the position.
• Plan and participate in continuing education and training within the scope of practice to meet CME requirements, retain medical licensure (as per DHP), and maintain professional knowledge and clinical competence.
• Engage in the Personal Development and Performance Review system to foster personal and service development.
• Contribute to clinical audits to support the physiotherapy service's Clinical Governance Strategy.
• Assume or accept any other responsibilities as assigned by the direct supervisor within the position role and responsibility.
• Patient Safety-Attend and successfully complete competencies which focus on patient safety initiatives implemented within Aspetar Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine Hospital. Patient Safety Training is an annual requirement, to include all organizational leaders, staff, service, and contracted providers.
Necessary knowledge and Experience to be able to do the job:
• Minimum experience of 3-5 years in which 1 year should be in a similar position / responsibility, preferably in a similar Industry.
• Previous experience with young athletes is preferable.
Education and Certification requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in Physiotherapy or equivalent.
• State Registration with a Physiotherapy Association or proof of a Physiotherapy title in the home country.
• Evidence of Continued Professional development is preferred.
• Fulfil all the licensing requirements.
Job specific technical Skills:
• Proficient ability to successfully examine and treat specific conditions across a range of sports and sporting situations.
• Sports Academy experience, working with youth athletes preferred.
• Proficient in developing, implementing and evaluating Physiotherapy programmes for Athletes from a range of sports.
• Expert skills in the management of Individual Case load, autonomy of Practice and contribution to staff professional development.
• Proficient communication skills: effectively communicate at multiple levels of the organisation (e.g. Aspetar SMP’s and Athlete screening staff, NSMP colleagues and senior management, etc.) and external stakeholders (e.g. athletes, coaches, AASMC staff and officials).
• Evidence of ability to work on own initiative and to evaluate own practice.
• Personal insight and reflection skills and is aware of own strengths and weaknesses.
• Ability to establish good working relationships and to work within a team.
• Team Player. Good Communicator.
• Necessary proven skills to effectively communicate in English language.
• Ability to work with basic health informatics system data base.
Working Environment
Work will primarily be based at Aspire Academy (office-based) as well as on the field (patient-based). or as per business needs from time to time. Travel abroad for training camps and competitions may also be required.
