Job Purpose:
To Monitor the day-to-day operations of the vessels. Liaise and act as the focal point between the ships and the organization and monitor all aspects of safety, certifications and regulatory requirements. Organize and follow up on Audit’s, inspections and surveys in order to ensure company owned vessels are operated in a safe, efficient and economical manner and in compliance with statutory rules and regulations.
Key Accountability:
Inspections
Monitor, arrange and respond to SIRE / CDI inspections as required by owner’s commercial department or any flag inspections in order to ensure compliance with required rules and regulations. Visit vessels to assist with the pre-vetting inspections and carry out any other audits as required by the management in order to identify any potential risks in advance.
Port Agencies
Participate in the appointment of agencies and follow-up with them in order to ensure timely disbursements and invoicing for owner’s husbandry matters.
Security
Monitor ships/vessels transit high risk areas. Oversee testing of alerts and liaise with service providers for troubleshooting.
Vessel Load Discharge
Monitor and support vessel's load/discharging operations in coordination with commercial operators.
Safety
Provide support to assigned vessels on matters related to operations, safety and emergencies; and ensure all possible assistance is accorded for the safe prosecution of the voyage. Investigating navigational and operational incidents.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Master Mariner {FG} certificate of competency
- 3-7 years of sailing experience as Master on board a ship.
- At least 2 years of shore job experience as a marine superintendent.
