Job Description
• Inspect earthworks and structural construction activities to ensure compliance with approved drawings, specifications, and project requirements.
• Monitor site activities related to: Excavation and backfilling Embankment works Subgrade preparation Compaction works Foundations and footings Reinforced concrete structures Retaining walls Culverts and underground structures
• Verify setting out, line, level, and coordinates before commencement of work.
• Inspect excavation dimensions, formation levels, and soil conditions.
• Ensure approved materials are used for fill, backfill, and structural works.
• Witness field density tests, compaction tests, and soil testing activities.
• Monitor placement and compaction of fill materials according to specifications.
• Inspect formwork, reinforcement, embedded items, and concrete works before casting.
• Verify reinforcement size, spacing, cover, laps, and anchorage as per approved drawings.
• Witness concrete pouring, slump testing, cube sampling, curing, and finishing activities.
• Ensure compliance with approved method statements and inspection test plans (ITP).
• Review and close WIRs (Work Inspection Requests) within required timelines.
• Raise NCRs (Non-Conformance Reports) and site observations for non-compliant works.
• Coordinate with laboratory and material inspectors for testing and approvals.
• Monitor contractor progress and workmanship quality on site.
• Ensure structural works comply with project specifications and authority requirements.
• Inspect temporary works and ensure stability and safety during construction.
• Verify dimensions, elevations, and alignment of completed structures.
• Coordinate with surveyors for level checks and structural positioning.
• Maintain daily inspection reports and site quality records.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental requirements during execution.
• Participate in site meetings and provide technical feedback on construction activities.
• Review as-built drawings and support handover documentation.
• Ensure proper protection of completed works from damage during ongoing construction.
• Monitor dewatering and groundwater control activities where applicable.
• Coordinate with utilities and other disciplines to avoid conflicts during earthworks and structural execution.
• Support Resident Engineer and QA/QC team in overall project quality control and supervision activities.
Qualifications
**Required Qualifications:**
• Diploma in Civil Engineering or equivalent qualification from a recognised institution
• Minimum 7 years of professional experience in civil construction inspection, with focus on earthworks and structural works
• Proven experience in large-scale infrastructure projects, including rail, transportation, or similar heavy civil works
• Demonstrated knowledge of construction specifications, approved drawings, and inspection test plans (ITP)
• Strong understanding of soil mechanics, compaction testing, and concrete quality control procedures
• Proficiency in preparing and maintaining inspection reports and non-conformance documentation
• Excellent command of written and spoken English for site communication and report preparation**Preferred Qualifications:**
• Experience on major UAE infrastructure, metro projects, such as Dubai Metro (DM), or Etihad Rail projects
• Background in freight rail or heavy rail construction projects
• Professional certification in Quality Assurance and Quality Control (QA/QC) or construction inspection
• Knowledge of UAE building codes, safety regulations, and environmental compliance requirements
• Experience coordinating with multiple disciplines including surveyors, laboratories, and material testing agencies
