Job Description
We are seeking an experienced and proactive Health, Safety & Sustainability Manager to join our pre-opening team. Reporting to the Hotel Manager, this role is responsible for leading the hotel's health, safety, and sustainability initiatives to ensure a safe, compliant, and environmentally responsible operation. The successful candidate will champion a culture of wellbeing, risk management, and environmental stewardship while supporting Faena's commitment to regenerative tourism and creating meaningful experiences that positively impact both people and the planet.
Key Responsibilities
- Implement and maintain health, safety, security, and loss prevention policies, procedures, and programs across the property.
- Promote a culture of safety awareness, accountability, and proactive risk management throughout the hotel.
- Conduct regular risk assessments, safety inspections, and audits to identify and mitigate potential hazards.
- Coordinate emergency response procedures, fire safety programs, evacuation drills, and crisis management plans.
- Investigate accidents, incidents, security breaches, and loss prevention matters, ensuring appropriate reporting and corrective actions.
- Monitor compliance with local regulations, company standards, and health and safety requirements.
- Deliver training and awareness programs related to workplace safety, fire prevention, emergency response, and security procedures.
- Work closely with Engineering, People & Culture, and operational departments to ensure safe working practices are maintained.
- Support contractor and supplier compliance with hotel health and safety standards.
- Maintain relationships with local authorities, emergency services, and regulatory bodies.
- Monitor security systems, access control procedures, and loss prevention measures to protect hotel assets.
- Prepare safety reports, incident analysis, and compliance documentation for management review.
- Support pre-opening activities by establishing health, safety, and security standards, procedures, and training programs.
- Assist in managing departmental budgets and resources to ensure efficient operation of the Health, Safety & Sustainability function.
- Champion Faena's commitment to regenerative tourism, ensuring operations contribute positively to the environment, local communities, and cultural preservation.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in Health & Safety, Sustainability, Environmental Management, or Risk Management within a luxury hotel, resort, or hospitality environment.
- Strong knowledge of occupational health and safety regulations, environmental practices, and sustainability initiatives.
- Experience conducting audits, risk assessments, investigations, and compliance reviews.
- Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to influence culture and drive compliance across multiple departments.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and reporting systems.
- Relevant qualification in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Management, Sustainability, or a related field.
- Professional certifications such as NEBOSH, IOSH, LEED, or equivalent are preferred.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced pre-opening luxury hospitality environment.
