HCX Migration SME

1. Discovery, Analysis & Planning (DAP)

• Conduct infrastructure discovery workshops and technical assessments.
• Perform cloud readiness assessments and application dependency mapping.
• Define migration strategy, wave planning, and execution roadmap.
• Design OCI landing zone architecture aligned with governance and security standards.
• Identify migration risks and develop mitigation strategies.
• Prepare detailed migration runbooks and executive-level reports.

2. Migration Execution (HCX Operations)

• Deploy, configure, and operate VMware HCX for workload migration.
• Configure HCX Interconnect, Service Mesh, and Network Extension.
• Execute live (vMotion), bulk, and cold migrations.
• Implement Layer 2 extension and ensure seamless network connectivity.
• Validate post-migration performance, security, and stability.
• Troubleshoot migration, networking, and performance issues.
• Coordinate with infrastructure, network, security, and cloud teams.

Required Skills & Experience

• Strong hands-on experience with VMware HCX workload migration.
• Deep knowledge of VMware vSphere, ESXi, and vCenter.
• Strong expertise in VMware NSX and network virtualization.
• Proven experience in enterprise data center transformation projects.
• Hands-on experience with Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI).
• Experience in hybrid cloud and on-prem to cloud migration.
• Strong understanding of networking concepts (L2/L3, routing, firewall, security).
• Excellent documentation, stakeholder management, and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• VMware and/or OCI certifications.
• Experience in large-scale enterprise migration programs.
• Knowledge of disaster recovery (DR) and high availability (HA) architectures.
• Experience working in multi-vendor cloud environments.
