At InterContinental Residences Dubai Business Bay, we are seeking a passionate and motivated Culinary Apprentice (Commis 3) to support our culinary team in delivering exceptional dining experiences through quality food preparation, consistency, and attention to detail.

As a Culinary Apprentice (Commis 3), you will play an important role in supporting daily kitchen operations, learning from experienced chefs, and ensuring every dish is prepared with care, precision, and consistency.

The Gig

Reporting to the Sous Chef, the Culinary Apprentice (Commis 3) supports the preparation and production of food while maintaining quality, hygiene, and operational standards within the kitchen.

You will assist with food preparation, maintain kitchen cleanliness, and support service operations while continuously developing your culinary knowledge and skills.

Your Day-to-Day

No two days are the same; your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

Food Preparation & Production

  • Assist in the preparation of ingredients for daily kitchen operations
  • Support the cooking and presentation of menu items according to recipes and standards
  • Ensure consistency in portion sizes, quality, and presentation
  • Prepare mise en place for service periods

Kitchen Operations

  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of assigned workstations
  • Ensure proper storage and handling of food products
  • Support smooth kitchen operations during service periods
  • Assist with receiving and storing deliveries according to established procedures

Quality & Standards

  • Follow recipes, preparation methods, and plating guidelines
  • Monitor food quality and report any concerns to senior chefs
  • Ensure freshness and proper rotation of ingredients using FIFO procedures
  • Support adherence to brand and culinary standards

Health, Safety & Hygiene

  • Maintain high standards of personal hygiene and grooming
  • Follow food safety, HACCP, and sanitation procedures
  • Ensure proper handling and storage of food products
  • Use kitchen equipment safely and responsibly

Teamwork & Development

  • Work collaboratively with kitchen and service teams
  • Follow instructions from senior chefs and supervisors
  • Participate in training and skill development opportunities
  • Demonstrate a willingness to learn and continuously improve

What We Need From You

Ideally, you bring some (or all) of the following:

Education

  • Culinary qualification, vocational training, or hospitality-related studies preferred

Experience

  • Previous kitchen experience or culinary internship preferred
  • Experience in hotels, restaurants, or hospitality environments is an advantage
  • Basic understanding of food preparation techniques and kitchen operations
  • Knowledge of food safety and hygiene standards preferred
  • GCC/Dubai experience is a plus
